Reflections in the pond

Houses, trees, sky and street furniture are reflected in a pond in Lisbon.

Near the Igreja Paroquial da Graça in Lisbon, I found a small pond that had a lovely reflection.

A fork in the forest

A path forks left and right around the ruins of a building in a forest.

The path forks around one of the ruins of the gunpowder mill in Ballincollig Regional Park, Cork. Everything is overgrown, but access is easy. Inside that building, it looks like this.

St Patrick’s Day Fireworks

Fireworks light up the night sky over Cobh. The light reflects on the water.

Fireworks lit up the sky over Cobh last Sunday night, St. Patrick’s Day. We shot it from across the water from the park on Haulbowline.

The Port of Cork

The sign saying "PORT OF CORK" displayed on the middle island of the city, visible to any boats coming up the river from the harbour. The supports of the sign are reflected in a puddle, as are the lights and nearby building. The Cork skyline is visible in the background of this sunset photo.

The PORT OF CORK sign welcomes any boat coming into the city, but it’s probably on borrowed time if development continues in this area on Custom House Quay.

I made this from 3 separate images because I forgot I had my wide-angle lens in my camera bag. I was out with friends from Blarney Photography Club photographing the city. Here’s a post with more photos!

A tourist stares

A woman stares at the tram I'm travelling on, unaware that I'm taking her photo. She is dressed warmly as it is November, and even in Lisbon it gets chilly.

The Atlantic Pond in Reflection

Trees are reflected in the water of the Atlantic Pond in Cork. The water is very still, and a clear blue sky is unblemished by clouds.

I love walking by the Marina and sometimes walking around the Atlantic Pond. Most of the water was deliciously calm this afternoon when I visited.

Starry Night Sky

Stars pop and light pollution shows in the sky while the foreground trees and bushes are silhouetted. Poles carrying wires too.

After photographing the National Space Centre on a dark January evening I turned around and spotted this silhouette. Luckily, there wasn’t much of a wind blowing, but we were lucky. A chill wind blew in a few minutes later.

The Idle Hour on Albert Quay

Various buildings on Albert Quay in Cork are reflected in the River Lee one early morning just after sunrise when the sky is coloured by the rising the sun.

Well, the Idle Hour, Navigation Square, 1 Albert Quay and the other pubs along Victoria Road.

This was taken one morning early, just after the sun rose. I’ve taken this photo a few times over the years and I love the reflection in the River Lee, at high tide, like the buildings are floating at sea.

Long shadows at sunset
