The badge of the rented car we had while the wipers of our car were being repaired a few weeks back.
It snowed too 🙂

The sun had risen about an hour before this shot, taken 2 days ago in Blarney. Actually, across the road from my home. It was a beautiful morning with snow in many places, but the ground was slippy so I had to be careful. Nothing like as bad as this morning when rain and cold made the ground outside like an ice rink!

This morning we woke up to the sight of snow falling. As it was still only 6am and dark outside the floodlight in the back garden picked out the falling snow beautifully. As it was still only 6am I was too tired/half asleep to go back upstairs to get my camera.
Luckily it snowed later and some of the snow lingered on the roofs, walls and cars of the neighbourhood. Here’s a photo of a neighbour’s roof, just in case we don’t get any more snow.
What with global warming and all that, I expect we’ll be basking in the sunshine next January..

A small wooden cabin or hut sits in a car park near the houses Automattic stayed in at Breckenridge in Colorado. The original shot can be seen in my Flickr stream or in the Automattic group there. This version has been extensively dodged and burned to bring out the contrast between light and dark.
Late posting of today’s photo because of the camera club tonight. It was model shoot night and I got a few shots but I’m not very comfortable directing so I’m undecided as to how well the photos came out.

The sun sets early in Breckenridge Colorado, well slightly earlier than in Ireland anyway. Myself and Anthony were working on one part of our secret project, and Mike Adams was working on the other bit, when Michael Koenig jumped up and went outside on to the balcony. I looked up and saw gorgeous red clouds and followed him with my camera. This is the result.
Tall evergreen trees outside the house, and snow capped mountains on the horizon. The sun set behind them in a blazing ball of glorious colour. Beautiful.

On the way back from Arizona I flew via Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. I had a long wait but I have a laptop, a spare battery, DVD and Mame to keep me amused.
I took a few photos too but I discovered shortly after taking this that photography in most parts of the airport is banned!
From what I remember, it’s ok to take snapshots of family or friends beyond the security checkpoints, and possibly only with a compact camera. I can only imagine the fuss if I had been discovered taking photos of the runway and service areas with my big chunky Canon 20D!
I know for a fact that photography in Heathrow is banned. It’s a good thing too. The flash might set off the dangerous liquids left by disgruntled and thirsty travellers before they go through security.
Have you noticed this is a wide angle shot? I didn’t get my Sigma 10-20 back yet and no news from the camera store. I took this with a Canon 10-22 USM stuck to my camera. Matt very kindly gave me his lens because he’s buying Nikon kit. Thanks Matt!
