Shadow Play on a Scottish Street

Shadows on a wall as the sun sets in Edinburgh.

I had hoped to go up Calton Hill this evening, but the Beltane fire festival is happening there tonight. I have to be up early in the morning, so I decided not to go, but now I already regret not going! I’d have stayed far too long taking photos and be so tired for my flight in the morning.

Architectural Waves by the Sea

It’s been a few years since I’ve been in Malaga. This one is from November 2018 on a lovely sunny day. I love the “Palmeral de las Sorpresas” pergola is an eye-catching structure along the promenade.

A cat in the shadows

Two buckets are no match for an ephemeral cat in the shadows as it played with the light of the setting sun at Castlemartyr Resort last week.

The shadow of the cat is courtesy of the cat statue I posted recently. Again, well worth going down to see them, and for a stroll around the gardens.

Cobbles, Light and Shadow

I visited the Igreja Paroquial da Graça (Church of Our Lady of Grace) in Lisbon early one morning. There’s a beautiful view of the city, but if you look behind and around you’ll find these lovely cobbles. In the early morning, the houses opposite cast a shadow on the street and on the wall of the church, and I loved it.

Statues at Sunset

Some of the statues that decorate the entrances to St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral in Cork.

Taken while we waited for the Cathedral to open so we could hear beautiful classical music played that evening by London Concertante.

Shadows at Tragumna

Shadows are cast by the late afternoon sun at Tragumna Beach near Skibereen in Co Cork. This was my first time at the this beach, it was practically deserted except for a couple in their car who watched the waves.

Looking for a parking space

You’re in town and desperately looking for a parking place. Where do you go? All the on-street parking has either been removed because of road works or taken by everyone who went shopping at 9am. Just look up. There’s a multi storey carpark somewhere near you. Probably.

Front of the car park on The Grand Parade. Shot after I said goodbye to Phil and the others a few weeks ago.
