The Santa Barbara Courthouse Mural Room

The windows of the mural room look on to the benches of the room. 100 year old curtains line the windows and the walls are covered in murals.

Visiting the Mural Room in the Courthouse of Santa Barbara was a treat I was not expecting. The murals depict the history of the region, sometimes inaccurately, as they include Peter Pan, Robin Hood and Errol Flynn!

Please, I can’t breathe

A mural on a wall in Santa Barbara shows George Floyd, and his words, “PLEASE, I CAN’T BREATHE”.

The mural was painted by Griffin Lounsbury and Chad (Chadillac Green) Westmoreland. Here’s an article about the mural by a local newspaper.

Rooftop Shadow

Walking down a street in Santa Barbara, I spotted the shadow of a palm tree cast on a nearby roof. It attracted my attention because, while these roof tiles are common in that city, they’re not that common in Ireland and I liked the shape of the shadow too.

Everything just seems brighter and bigger in California!

A bride in Santa Barbara

In and around the Court House in Santa Barbara, there were a number of wedding groups having their photos taken. This is one recently married couple I spotted in the corridor outside the main Court House. A lovely setting for photos.

I wonder if that couple in the background knew them, or were they just curious tourists like me?
