Wisdom Visits Cork
In 2018, a ship called WISDOM visited Cork. Which is odd because this site says the ship was renamed, “Jasmine Scan”, in 2012. Apparently, it’s now called “WARTHOG” and bears a striking orange colour that’ll be hard to miss. If you were ever nostalgic for the old R&H Hall building, it’s here too. Must be…
A dog walk in Lisbon
A woman walks her dog in Lisbon. She stopped outside Centro Social Laura Alves. Laura Alves was a Portuguese actress who was born in Lisbon in 1921. She passed away in 1986. Read more about her on Wikipedia.
The curves of the Sacré-Cœur
The curves and textures of the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre in Paris are evident in this close up photo of the roof. I love how the curves flow, and the patterns repeat.
Light shines vertically
In Sandycove Store & Yard a few weeks ago and it was a beautiful afternoon. The sun shone through the open roof, making it a lovely place to stop for a coffee and treat.
Sunset on the M8
On the way back to Cork last night, I left the M8 on an exit near Cashel to stop for a few minutes. We parked by a field and I spotted this tree so, with a beautiful sunset showing the last of its colours, I got a few photos.
Life Saving Devices at the Beach
A life buoy at the beach in Youghal. It was a fairly breezy day, just after the triathlon.
Sunset over Ring Wood
The Ring Wood in Blarney last night just after the sun set behind me and there was a lovely glow at the horizon. In the next few years, houses will be built in that field, possibly obscuring this view from across the valley.
Storm Clouds near Sandycove
As I walked to the Forty Foot a few days ago, I saw an ominous, dark cloud out at sea. Knowing that it would guarantee it wouldn’t rain, I got my umbrella from the car. It didn’t rain.
Doggy had their hair done
It’s lovely to see well cared for dogs. Shih tzus need so much grooming or their fur gets in their eyes, but this one had a nice bow, and happily walked along a street in Madrid.
Whistling on a bullet
A man blows over the top of a bullet casing at a military show in the old Cork Gaol in 2013. It’s an odd feeling to post this photo. I’ve had it in my “todo” album for more than a decade and apparently never posted it before. Once it’s published I won’t see it so…
The trees and the statue
Near the Forty Foot in Dún Laoghaire is a statue with religious carvings on it. For once, Google Maps wasn’t too helpful about what the statue was called. Hopefully, someone from the area will see this and let me know what it’s called. Edit: Thanks Oisin, the statue is called Stele.
A model of Plac Matejki
A tiny model of Plac Matejki sits at one end of this elegant street in Krakow. In the distance is St. Florian’s Church. Taking a photo of the model is difficult enough, and of course, I didn’t have a macro lens, but I was happy with how it came out. In the centre sits the…
