Urban Decay in Green and White
I spotted this scene while walking up the hill next to the harbour in the old town of Puerto del Carmen. The peeling paint of the window frame attracted my attention, but then the modern signs stood out in contrast to the white painted wall. Just one of those things I like about looking around.
A bit of a devil
A man sitting on the steps of a theatre in Kraków is framed by the handles of the doors behind him.
The cat and the boats
A cat sits on the slipway in the old town of Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote, surveying the damage to a boat. Or maybe he’s just enjoying the last rays of the sun on a warm January evening.
January 18th, 2025 Palestine Rally in Cork
There was a huge turnout for the pro-Palestine rally in Grand Parade yesterday afternoon. There’s huge support for Palestine in Ireland. Speakers welcomed the cease fire, but I don’t think anyone thinks it’ll hold. Recently, I found photos of a similar rally through the streets of Cork in 2009. It’s the same issues. Nothing has…

The Speed of Light on London Streets

A Thirsty Ostrich
An ostrich at the Valencia Bioparc, near where I photographed this rhino. Hey look! Another Ostrich!
Urban Life Below Los Gigantes

A Rhino’s Reflection
A white rhino wanders near a pool of water in Bioparc Valencia, Spain. In 2023, two rhinos arrived in the zoo and in December that year, they had the largest group of this threatened species in Spain. The biggest threat to them is, of course, humans who want to poach the animals for their horns…
JD Sports Coming Soon!
It was October 2019 and JD Sports had yet to open their shop on Patrick’s Street in Cork. The back of the building, on Drawbridge Street, featured JD Sports hoarding, but now it’s derelict, with “TO LET” signs in the windows, and the SAVOY entrance is boarded up. A sign of the times. The city…
Waves of Time
A lone rock on Long Strand, Co Cork, as waves crash around it. The water is reduced to a misty blur in this long exposure shot. If you look carefully, you’ll see the Galley Head Lighthouse in the background.
