Reflection on the Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower reflected in the pond at the Jardins du Trocadéro in Paris. I remember reading that police would stop you taking photos of the Eiffel Tower at night with a camera on a tripod but I never experienced that. Do they do that any more?
The Chauffeur and the Rolls
I was waiting for someone to come out of a shop, so I did some street photography while I was in London. I found a chauffeur standing in front of his Rolls Royce car, waiting, too. I wonder who owns the car?
Red Clouds at Sunset
Clouds in the sky are lit up by the sun after it has set. They’re a vivid red thanks to the light travelling through the thick atmosphere just beyond the horizon.
A Masked Break
At the height (one of them, anyway) of the COVID19 pandemic in July 2020, someone takes a break on the street. He still wears his mask, despite being outside and nowhere near anyone. Numbers of COVID19 infections are rising again, unfortunately. Schools are back after the summer. It’s so depressing.
Boolaboom at the GPO
Boolaboom, a “super-sized brass and percussion big-band” played on Oliver Plunkett Street, in front of the GPO and they were great!
The Service at An Brog
We saw The Service play in An Bróg last night and they were as good as they’ve always been. Best moment was, ‘For anyone under, uh, 50, THIS IS SKA!’ I’ll admit I didn’t know Madness were a ska band. My wife introduced me to the wider world of that genre of music!
In a shop window
Two members of staff set up a window display in a shop in Cork.
It’s better to be seen
A worker on a busy road in Edinburgh, Scotland. It’s a busy road, so it’s a good thing he’s conspicuous!
Traffic and housing
The centre of Cork City will become a traffic free zone this Saturday for a few hours. The area visible in the photo above will still have cars in it, but it’ll be interesting to see what effect this will have on the day. Visible in the background, of course, is “What is home?” by…
Justice
The word JUSTICE painted on the side of the hoarding surrounding the derelict site on Sullivan’s Quay in Cork seems appropriate. So many homeless in the city, and this huge area is still a heap of rubble in the middle of the city. Not that whatever gets built there will help the homeless. It was…
Fire Assembly Point A
The old mixed with the new. Behind the old Customs House in Cork City.
A Street Performance for the kids
At the end of August, North Main Street closed to traffic as a carnival was held there. A huge crowd of adults and children descended on the street and the place was buzzing. 🙂 I wonder if this could be the same man I photographed on a unicycle in 2006?
