The Fiery Red Tree

A sculpture of a tree sits atop a high stone tower, with a starry sky behind.

Atop a high stone tower in Clogheenmilcon Sanctuary Walk, near Blarney, is a sculpture of a tree. It was created by sculptor, Don Cronin and is impossible to miss if you’re walking in the sanctuary.

This was taken last night when temperatures had dropped to -4.5ºC. I didn’t stay out very long, but braver souls from Blarney Photography Club did!

The Lilac Hat on Tour

A tour group listens to their guide. Many of the people are wearing hats and one person who is one of the few people in focus in this photo is wearing a nice lilac hat that caught my attention.

Missing the Sights

Many years ago, on a cold January day in Arizona we came across a small yard where metal works were being sold. One of those was an unusual metal robot with a red and white hat on it’s head, saying “LET IT SNOW”.

It didn’t snow, but it was cold at night!

Hussey’s Folly and the green fields

On a lovely evening in August 2020, we were visiting Dingle in Co. Kerry. A walk out to Hussey’s Folly is always on the cards, I think this evening was the last time we saw Fungie too. He was swimming in the bay, just off shore, surrounded by boats, as he always was.

The Dragon Awakens

Patient Pooch Steals Attention

A patient dog waits for his owner to find money for a St. Bridget's Cross while two passing women admire the dog.

With a walking stick under his arm, a man pays a young woman for a St. Bridget’s Cross on February 1st, 2023. As he completes the transaction, his loyal dog sits patiently on the ground, gazing away in anticipation of walks to come. Two women pass by and catch sight of the striking canine, drawn to the dog’s friendly aura and bold bandana.

Shandon Bells and Houses

The spire of St. Anne's Church (Shandon Bells) rises above the surrounding houses and street next to it at sunset with cloudy skies overhead.

Shandon Bells, seen from a slightly different perspective than the one at Bell’s Field we’re used to. It’s surrounded by houses and roads, and even by the nearby brewery, of which you can see a small portion of in this photo.
