These four buildings on North Main Street, Cork, are an eyesore. Thankfully they have been the subject of a compulsory purchase order by the local council so hopefully they will be saved and developed. Please follow Frank O’Connor on Twitter where he tweets about #derelictIreland.
Look up for history
The building that now houses Golden Discs on Patrick’ Street in Cork used to be the Pavilion Cinema. If you look closely at the top of the building you can see the faded lettering of that establishment.

The Graves of the S.S. Ary
Ardmore Cemetery is the final resting place of some of the crew of the S.S. Ary, a steamer that ran into difficulties in rough seas in 1947. Only one person survived.

Cars dumped in a field
Near the Inniscarra Dam on the River Lee I went walking one afternoon in March 2005. Apart from the gorgeous scenery and the rolling hills and lovely fluffy clouds of a bright day I spotted two cars dumped in a field. The Ford Escort license plate was “70 NZB” but I couldn’t see the other…
