I love the converging lines of columns like this. The stone work is so old, and here I am just sitting next to it taking a photo.

I was there too
Jaysus, I nearly dropped me phone when I spotted this scene in the Musée d’Orsay like. There’s your man on the left, pure glued to his iPhone, probably updating his Insta or whatever, and the other fella hanging on to some pamphlet or other. And there in the middle, this massive marble yoke, probably worth more than me gaff, just sitting there being completely ignored. Had to grab the shot with the camera – savage composition altogether. It’s gas when you think about it – here we are in one of the fanciest museums in Paris, and the only one paying attention to anything is yer man in the statue. Reminds me of walking down Patrick Street, with everyone’s heads buried in their phones while the city’s gorgeous architecture looms above them. Mad stuff altogether, boy.
(A bit over the top, but that’s how Perplexity thinks Cork people sound like. Accurate?)

The sun setting over Paris last year reflects in the water of the Seine. Absolutely loved it.

The curves and textures of the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre in Paris are evident in this close up photo of the roof. I love how the curves flow, and the patterns repeat.

In parts of Paris, they have such wide footpaths that café and restaurants have seating outside. The city where I live has done likewise, sometimes successfully, but more often, impeding pedestrians and annoying people. One pub claimed so much public real estate that pedestrians had to walk between tables to get past.

When you visit the Eiffel Tower, you’ll see the massive Jardin de la Tour Eiffel stretch off into the distance. In warm weather, the gardens are thronged with people in the evenings who gather to watch the Eiffel Tower light up.
This photo was shot on one such evening. The night was calm, and warm and it was lovely to be out.

A long figure seems lost in the courtyard of the Panthéon in Paris, while another sits on a rock bench lost in a book. An actual, honest to goodness, paper book.

The Alexandre III Bridge in Paris was a beautiful sight to see. Unfortunately, there were road works on the bridge and traffic was busy, so you had to be careful where you went. A large group of Japanese tourists spent an age taking photos with the bridge in the background. They even had lights on a stand. It was quite a set-up.

Tourists flock on to the road near the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
Admittedly, I was one of them, but I was just walking across the road at the pedestrian lights.
