At the end of August, North Main Street closed to traffic as a carnival was held there. A huge crowd of adults and children descended on the street and the place was buzzing. 🙂
I wonder if this could be the same man I photographed on a unicycle in 2006?

In the midst of a housing crisis and buildings up and down the country are left empty and rotting away.
Follow Frank O’Connor and Jude Sharry on Twitter. The Derelict Ireland hashtag is full of photos of crumbling or boarded up buildings all over the country.
Meanwhile, people live, 6 to a tiny room, in Dublin because that’s all they can afford. There’s something really twisted and greedy about Ireland.
One of my Brazilian friends lives in a one bedroom apartment with 5 other Brazilian girls paying 400 euro each…. That’s above what the landlord would get if they just rented it to a couple, I don’t understand how it’s legal. They have bunk beds in a tiny room. It’s inhumane.

These four buildings on North Main Street, Cork, are an eyesore. Thankfully they have been the subject of a compulsory purchase order by the local council so hopefully they will be saved and developed.

No refunds on costumes in this shop on North Main Street. Silly them, of course there are refunds if the product turns out to be faulty. Signs like those don’t change your consumer rights.

Since the smoking ban was implemented people can’t smoke in pubs which drives them on to the streets where the pub owner may have some street furniture out for their convenience. No such luck on North Main Street for this man. He’s enjoying his cigarette while sitting on an electricity junction box marked clearly “DANGER Keep Away”.
