I have a good reason for photographing this perfectly ordinary scene. Over the years I’ve taken photos of men sitting on that electricity box, and this just adds to that collection. First there was this photo of Liam Foley, an elderly man enjoying a cigarette. He passed away 2 months after that photo was taken….

From the car park on North Main Street, Cork, you can Bruce College and St Mary’s Dominican Priory. I liked how the stark lifeless concrete frame of the multi-story car park contrasted with the variety of materials and colours in the world outside.

A month ago, Cork City Council acquired 4 eyesore buildings at the top of North Main Street in Cork. They are in a prominent location and not used for much over the years – I remember a shoe store in one, a clothes store in the place next to it and a retro goods store…

At the end of August, North Main Street closed to traffic as a carnival was held there. A huge crowd of adults and children descended on the street and the place was buzzing. 🙂 I wonder if this could be the same man I photographed on a unicycle in 2006?
