Moonlit Arizona
The moon shines down on the Arizona desert, January 2008.
Take off from Quebec Airport
Quebec Airport has all you might need: free wifi, free power at some seats and even a children’s toy area for the kids to play in! Nice sunset too! 🙂
Signs of Quebec Industry
On the journey into Quebec City from where we’re staying it’s impossible not to miss the plumes of steam (and smoke?) rising from a number of buildings, seemingly right in the middle of an urban area. According to our guide the buildings contain a cigarette factory and a paper recycling plant. Up close one of…
Night Over Quebec
Night falls over Quebec as we finish our tour and photowalk around the city. ISO 1600 came in very useful as the sky got darker! Pictured here are a few of the buildings just outside the old city walls. I think the Hilton is the building on the right.
Blarney Sunrise
Sunrise, as seen from my home office here in Blarney about 3 weeks ago. The weather was great in September. Much better than it was in August.
Keeping the Chicks Alive
2 chicks are fed by a parent just outside the window of my home office here in Blarney. The chicks have been there all evening and I just looked out again and they’re still there. Unfortunately the neighbour’s cat, Patches, saw them too and is keeping a vigil close by. We saw the parent bird…
Cork City Hall
Cork City Hall, on the banks of the River Lee. Shot on the same night as yesterday’s shot of Gardner House. Also not the first time I’ve posted a photo of City Hall! Only 9 places left for the photowalk. Unfortunately the weather forecast for Saturday is bad so umbrellas and raincoats are a must….
Gardner House
As I mentioned already in my Polish Coal post, my dad worked in Suttons Coals for years. Gardner House on the South Mall in Cork used to be called Suttons House but then coal’s fortunes changed. Oil and gas became more popular. Legislation banned any coal other than smokeless coal from urban areas and the…
Burning Embers
The burning embers of a bonfire glow brightly in the chill Arizona night. Taken in January 2008 when Automattic visited Arizona. Here’s another shot of that fire!
Light Streaks of City Traffic
A long exposure shot of traffic as it heads into Cork City from the direction of Blackpool. This was very difficult to take and the original shows quite a bit of shake even though I had the camera balanced on a pedestrian traffic light button thingy. Love the streaks though.
Nollaig Shona Dhaoibh Go Leir
My neighbours decorate their houses with lights and decorations at Christmas time each year. Here’s a few snapshots of their efforts. Happy Christmas! Have a great day today!
