Blarney House, an impressive building on the grounds of Blarney Castle in Co. Cork, Ireland. It’s a private residence but during the summer there are guided tours every half hour.

Focus on Flowers
Flowers in the gardens of Blarney Castle.
Never once in my wildest nightmares did I ever imagine that I’d post a camera phone image as a single post but here it is. Taken with my Samsung Galaxy S4. There’s obvious JPEG artefacts when you view the original at 100% but this 800×600 pixel image is good enough for web viewing and Lightroom does wonders even with JPEG files.
I’ve posted many more photos from the S4 on my Google Plus account but they’re straight from the camera and “enhanced” by G+ and still look pretty good!

Boats in Cobh
Some of the boats that have taken up semi-permanent residence in Cobh pictured in 2006. I think some of those boats are still there!
That was a beautiful but cold January evening.

Cherry Blossom under the Castle
Cherry blossom trees never fail to make my wife Jacinta gasp as they’re so beautiful. This one is in the grounds of Blarney Castle and I don’t think she knows (or she’s forgotten) it’s there!
Many years ago I posted another photo of cherry blossom on the day of our wedding. It’s not quite that day yet but I wanted to share this photo today as it’s so nice outside this morning.

Barren and Snow
This private road up to Blarney Castle was covered in snow, the trees were bare and every inch of grass wore the familiar white coat of a recent snow fall.
Taken yesterday morning while the snow fell. It’s -3C here in Blarney this morning and feels even colder! Brrrrr

Blarney in the Snow
It started to snow this morning in Blarney shortly after 6:30am and it has snowed continually for the last few hours. There’s a nice white coat on the grass and trees but the roads have turned to slush making them somewhat treacherous. They’ll be a lot worse if the snow freezes so I hope it all disappears nice and quickly!

Water Tyre near Inchigeelagh
Inchigeelagh, Cork, Ireland. June 2012.
After a trip to Gougane Barra where I photographed the usual suspects we stopped in Inchigeelagh and took a walk by the river. Near the end of the walk this tyre hangs from a tree into the river where I presume kids jumped into the water when the weather is slightly warmer than it is now.
This’ll be my last post of 2012 so happy new year! I took over 10,000 photos this year which is a recent record. If only I could find time and motivation to work on more of those photos so they’ll see the light of day..

Foggy Sunlight
Fog covers the village of Blarney at the merest hint of a calm chilly morning and today was no exception. These are the trees across the road from my son’s school.

The Golden Road
It’s a beautiful frosty morning so I couldn’t resist the urge to take a couple of shots of this driveway up to Blarney Castle. You may even recognise it from the WordPress theme Twenty Ten.

Waterloo Geocache
There’s a geocache close to where I live near the village of Waterloo. It’s hidden away next to a bridge but I have not been able to find it despite my best efforts.
Still, got a photo out of the walk there yesterday.
