Lanzarote Santa in April

Lanzarote Santa in April

Can you imagine how hot Santa would be in his great big coat on a warm April day? Luckily this was back in January, but it was still quite warm. Warm enough that I was standing in the shade!

To home on the bike

To home on the bike

To say there are many motorbikes in Marrakesh is an understatement. We arrived at dusk and watched shell shocked as small motorbikes wove back and forth between traffic and around corners with little evident care for safety. As a pedestrian here you must have eyes in the back of your head!

With that sorted out and explained the picture above might not be too surprising and it’s a not an uncommon sight to see 3 people on a motorbike. It looks like three generations here: son leaning forward on the handlebars, mother driving and grandmother sitting on the passenger seat.

We haven’t seen any accidents yet but this old post from 2009 says accident rates are rising.

Honda 70

At first glance I thought this was a Honda 50 but closer inspection of the sticker reveals a “70”. There is more text that could be COB but if the Wikipedia page on the bike is right, it was probaby “CD” on it before it was ripped.

Shot on the Grand Parade, right next to the construction work in front of the library!

Parked Motorbikes

Two motorbikes parked on the South Mall attracted my attention especially as a strong sun reflected off the clean chrome.

Yes, I know there’s a weird diagonal, yes it is distracting. Yes, it is intentional. Enjoy!

A motorbike’s shadow

A motorbike sits half in shadow creating an almost monochrome image. It was parked on a hill in San Francisco last year.

This is actually a moped, and I found much more on the subject on the Wikipedia page on Mopeds.

Fat Boy Harley

Harleys in Blarney

The 15th annual H.O.G. Rally took place this weekend in Killarney, Co. Kerry. 10,000 Harley Davidson riders were expected. For the last few days I’ve seen Harleys around Cork sporting flags from all over Europe.

Here are two of them on their way back, pictured in Blarney! Jacinta and I were going to the local shop when 2 couples riding on these beautiful bikes drove past. I had to grab my camera ask them to pose for a shot or two! For once I was in a photo because they invited us to sit on their bikes for a photo.

Phil – I hope you like the photos, I’ll send you on a couple of other shots too!
