While on my way to Iceland a few months ago I had about 10 hours to kill while in London. Thankfully John Godley collected me at the airport and gave me a quick tour of the city centre!
I got loads of photos of the London Eye, here’s one of them.

Girl reading a book on Winston Churchill on the Underground in London.
193 steps, but they’re all going up. We arrived in the Underground station at Covent Garden in the middle of the day when queues for the elevators up were *sooo* long. Actually, I didn’t know this at all. I had dawdled behind taking a few photos and recognised a few faces darting down a side tunnel so I followed them. As I ran after them I snapped the warning sign that read,
This stairway has 193 steps
Do not use
except in an
emergency
Filled with a resignation that it must be the only way I followed them up.
Oh my God. My knees were like jelly by the time I saw sunlight. I never want to do that again. Next time we wait patiently for the elevator.
PS. My brother and I and our future brother-in-law Mike left London yesterday, but Donal is still in the city, and last I heard, was tucking into some spicy food at a Chinese restaurant! Great weekend!

Terminal 1 at Heathrow, just before we parked. Thanks Matt and Mary for a great few days!
Matt bought himself a shiny new Sony A200 on Saturday. It has built in image stabilisation that really helped when I took some shots inside a pub in Eton. If you’re on the look out for a very reasonably priced entry level DSLR I can recommend the Sony A200.

Do not trespass on the railway, Penalty £1000, or if there’s a train coming you’re going to get squashed! Thanks Matty for the Pound sign help!

The London Eye (or Millenium Wheel as it is also called) is clearly visible in this shot of London City Center taken last weekend as my plane banked on approach to Heathrow Airport.
We arrived around 7am when it was still dark. Thankfully I had my camera in a small bag at hand because I had missed some great shots of Tuscon, Arizona because my camera had been tucked away in the overhead bins.
Sorry for the large file size. It’s a noisy image, and Jpeg compression isn’t that great with random noise.
