A white cat that lives at the top of Patrick’s Hill, taken very near to where this was taken many years before. Lots more Life photos of Cork too. Many of recognisable locations.
The view from a friend’s new bungalow near Kinsale in County Cork.
It’s almost noon and I’m at the top of Patrick’s Hill taking photos of the Northside of Cork City. Pictured is St. Anne’s in the foreground, the County Hall in the background and lots in between! Didn’t have time to work on any shots from yesterday. Too much to do.
–noun an evening party or social gathering, esp. one held for a particular purpose: a musical soiree. (source) The first time I heard anyone use the word “soiree” was when my wife’s friend spoke about organising a party at her home. My wife uses it too. Must be posh, I married well! Today I decided…
Almost all my photos from today’s photowalk. Photos after the jump to preserve my bandwidth! I also uploaded them to this pix.ie album [gallery link="file" order="ASC"] Phew. A lot there. What a great day. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
Phew! What a day! Today we had a great photowalk in Cork. I hesitate to say this, but I think it was probably the most enjoyable photowalk I’ve ever been on. We started out in the Montenotte Hotel, with tea and scones and a chat. After refreshments we headed up on the roof for a…
A steep incline leads down to the bottom of the Old Youghal Road. Photowalk tomorrow! See you at the Montenotte Hotel at 10am!

The view from my office on a damp misty and foggy morning 10 days ago. I live on the side of a depression between two slight hills and fog builds up inside there occasionally. Photowalk on Saturday! See the link above and please comment if you’re coming! We need numbers for the complementary lunch at…
The development of Half Moon Street and the adjoining Quay are coming along nicely, even with the old house in the middle of it that must have been kept for historical reasons. The other side of the building was pictured previously on Reflection on Half Moon Street. Photowalk is next Saturday! Make sure you sign…
Cork Button Co Ltd still exist and trade from Pope’s Quay in Cork but I don’t think they occupy the building the pictured above.
The beach at Fountainstown in County Cork faces east but in the twilight there’s still a glow in that direction. This was shot with my 50mm lens, really close to the surface of the water there while gentle waves lapped the shoreline. Unfortunately as a result I had set the focus point so the water…
