Way back in 2009 we went to see Hank Wedel and other musicians play in Charlies Pub, Cork. It was a great night of music as far as I remember and it’s about time these photos see the light of day! The weather for the first 3 and a bit months of this year have been miserable. It’s been raining, and cold and windy and miserable. The sun has poked through the clouds for a few days at a time, or more usually in between rain showers it would brighten slightly before the clouds gathered for…
Hank Wedel? and band at the Castle Hotel in Blarney on Sunday night. The band played a blinder despite the fact there was next to no room for them. These photos weren’t me walking up to them and sticking a camera in their faces, I had to lean back! [gallery ids="7857,7856,7855,7854,7853,7852,7851"]
In January 2007 supporters of a mountain rescue group in Cork were collecting on Patrick’s Street. This is just one of the fabulous dogs they had with them at various locations!
Six years ago the Grand Parade in Cork was a major building site. I can’t remember how long construction lasted but it went on for quite some time as they tore up and changed the road layout, widened the pavements and generally made the street look a hundred times better than it was before! I’ve…
Just a few photos from the short but colourful and noisy St Patrick’s Day Parade in Blarney this year. This parade proved more popular than other years as cars parked as far away as the park I live in. I don’t remember that ever happening before! Well done to everyone who took part! Kilkenny Castle as seen from the garden in front of the building on one of the many benches lining the paths through the grounds. I don’t have enough photos of Kilkenny on my blog. Must some more of this beautiful city.
If you ever wondered where the Blarney Stone was just look up. This shot was taken from a balcony looking into the exposed interior of Blarney Castle. The people at the top of the building are standing around the Blarney Stone and it looks like there’s one brave soul yet to perform the deed. The…
We visited the Mother Jones Flea Market a few weeks ago and it was a treasure trove of old and sort of old stuff. Pictured here are some action figures, a book on the Beatles and a poster of John Lennon hiding away in a corner of one display. Appropriate as we’re going to see…
This private road up to Blarney Castle was covered in snow, the trees were bare and every inch of grass wore the familiar white coat of a recent snow fall. Taken yesterday morning while the snow fell. It’s -3C here in Blarney this morning and feels even colder! Brrrrr
It started to snow this morning in Blarney shortly after 6:30am and it has snowed continually for the last few hours. There’s a nice white coat on the grass and trees but the roads have turned to slush making them somewhat treacherous. They’ll be a lot worse if the snow freezes so I hope it…
Helter Skelter on The Grand Parade, Cork during the month of December, 2012.
