A Rocky Owenahincha Beach?
I have very fond memories of Owenahincha Beach going back more than 20 years ago when my family stayed there on holiday. I remember a lovely sandy beach, and one morning when fog settled in so close than I could only see a few metres.
On a sunny day it must be beautiful, and it has a well deserved blue flag for its clean water but I was dismayed to see so many rocks on the beach. We met some lovely people there out with their dogs but at least one stray was wandering about and defecated just as we were leaving! 🙁
An Irish Examiner article from 2013 also notes the fall from grace this beach has experienced. It’s very sad, and disappointing.

TTIP Protestor
TTIP is the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. It’s not something I’m too familiar with but it seems there’s lots of anger about it in certain quarters. This was a protest that took place on Grand Parade last Saturday.
They’re anti GMO too. I learned that animal feed in Ireland now contains genetically modified ingredients and the speaker declared the only way of being sure that the food you eat is safe is if it’s organic. Studies have shown it’s no safer than other types of food, but organic farming is big business. Be as sceptical of their claims as you would any other claims.

Michael O’Regan and a Customer
Michael O’Regan is a well known sight on St. Patrick Street, Cork, selling the Evening Echo for over forty years from a couple of spots on the street.
Ten years ago I took a photo of him and promised I’d make a print for him. It took some time but last weekend I handed him a large print of that same photo. He was delighted, and posed for another photo along with a customer who had just bought a paper off him!

Humour on the Street
Humour on the street was the subject of the latest Cork Street Photography Meetup. While I didn’t actually meet any of the group in town as I was with my son I did get a few photos, and one qualifies as humorous. 🙂
