The Cat Who Rules the Hedgerow
A friend’s cat wandering out of a hedgerow on to the gate of a field on a lovely July evening many years ago.
December Light at Youghal
I love taking photos on the beach at Youghal, especially at sunset. This is from a few days ago when the sun was really low in the sky, and it was shining directly along the beach, rather than from behind the beach as it is during the summer! Youghal (pronounced “Yawl”) has one of the…
Santiago Calatrava’s Sunrise Masterpiece
The Pont de l’Assut de l’Or in Valencia, near the City of Science and Art is a striking piece of architecture, so when this sunrise turned purple just before the sun rose over the horizon I had to make sure to get a photo of this stunning bridge. The Pont de l’Assut de l’Or was…
The Eiffel at Dusk
This was originally going to be a portrait shot of the Eiffel Tower but I quite like this one too, especially with the lovely colour of the sky in the background.
Driftwood at Owenahincha
Last night Blarney Photography Club travelled to Owenahincha Beach to do some seascapes. We hoped to do some Milky Way photography later in the evening too but cloud cover got thicker and after some socialising in the nearby Celtic Ross Hotel we went home.
An Fear Marbh at Sunset
It looked like there wouldn’t be any sunset, but I was down at the bottom of Dunquin Pier when I saw an orange glow coming from behind the large rock blocking my view of the sun that had just set. If you know how steep that path down to the pier is, I hope you’ll…
Sunset Fishing at Ballycotton Pier
A series of photos showing men fishing off the pier at Ballycotton, Co Cork a couple of weeks ago. It was a beautiful evening. Lovely time to be there.
Youghal’s Charming Beach Huts
I had no idea these beach huts were in Youghal until about a week ago, but I just love the colour and shape of each one.
Warning: Photographers at Work
Some members of Blarney Photography Club as they worked with their cameras just off the beach in Youghal, Co. Cork last night.
Fire in the Sky at Sunset
The sun sets behind a hill on the Dingle Peninsula, Kerry, back in 2021.
Evening Light on Cathedral Lane, Edinburgh
Yesterday evening, walking along a road in Edinburgh, I saw that the setting sun was casting long shadows, and as luck would have it, those make interesting subjects, especially the light and dark of sun and shadow. Hopefully, the person in the pub was having a nice evening in there, it was lovely being out.
Golden Dawn Through the Trees
This morning, the sun rose through a beautiful orange haze. This was some 600m away through the eye of a long lens, and it looked even better in real life.
