A moment at a French Café
In parts of Paris, they have such wide footpaths that café and restaurants have seating outside. The city where I live has done likewise, sometimes successfully, but more often, impeding pedestrians and annoying people. One pub claimed so much public real estate that pedestrians had to walk between tables to get past.
At the Jeweller
She’s picking out something she likes.
Bright clothes on a dull day
It was lovely seeing people dressed in bright clothes last Saturday when it was overcast and fairly dull outside. Yellow, pink and green made a nice change from the mostly muted colours other people wore.
Listen to the radio
A man sits at one of the tables outside Gino’s Gelato listening to the radio. It was a cold day, and he was dressed for the weather, as were the people nearby. That ice-cream shop was still selling delicious treats to customers!
R&H Hall in Cork City
The R&H Hall building looms over Kennedy Quay as seen from Michael Collins Bridge today. It’s going to be demolished this year, so if you want to record “what once was” on the site, get down there soonest! This Irish Examiner article talks about the demolition, and includes this picture of what will replace it….
Light of my tree
Christmas decorations brighten up our tree, with the lights casting a soft glow on everything. Merry Christmas, and happy holidays if you’re celebrating.
NAF1 in Lisbon
Nobody knows who NAF1 is, but in my research I did find a Portuguese company called NAF. Seems they’re involved in real estate and probably not a fan of graffiti. I don’t imagine this man is either.
Hey Gorgeous
A fire extinguisher takes pride of place in a café we visited in Lisbon, Portugal.
A VW bus at the Arc de Triomphe
We had just come out of the metro with our suitcases from the airport when I saw this VW bus, or as I’ve just found out, a Volkswagen Type 2, pulled over to the side of the road on the busy roundabout at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. It was a lovely August day…
Red and Blue and a Bike
In the back of a taxi, looking out through a window laden with drops. The warm red and orange lights from street lighting and the rear brakes of a Tesla win against the cold, almost blue headlights of a passing car.A bike in the background belongs to someone who isn’t home yet.
Lisbon Tram 28
A tram on the world-famous route 28 in Lisbon rumbled past me as I walked up Rua da Graça. Many of the streets are very narrow, and the footpath is too, meaning the tram gets quite close as you walk along.
Coloured Light in Water
It started raining while we were visiting LXFactory in Lisbon. It was lashing down and people hurried to get to shelter. Where one person sees a hindrance, another might see an opportunity, so I still had my camera out! I held it under my coat when necessary, but I got a few shots I’m happy…
