Lisbon Tram 28

A tram on the world-famous route 28 in Lisbon rumbled past me as I walked up Rua da Graça. Many of the streets are very narrow, and the footpath is too, meaning the tram gets quite close as you walk along.

Coloured Light in Water

It started raining while we were visiting LXFactory in Lisbon. It was lashing down and people hurried to get to shelter. Where one person sees a hindrance, another might see an opportunity, so I still had my camera out! I held it under my coat when necessary, but I got a few shots I’m happy with, including this one.

We were walking to shelter at the end of the street, to wait for our taxi, when I saw a puddle that was alive with colour! Of course, I had to take a photo. 🙂

Closed due to flooding

Fitzgerald’s Park in Cork was flooded on October 21st last. The playground was completely off limits as water rolled off from the surrounding landscape. The pond had burst its banks and flooded the surrounding path. Seagulls were the only ones enjoying the scene.

We’re going to see a lot more flooding around Cork in the future. Climate change is making the world warmer, seas rise. Winters in Ireland will get wetter, storms will have more energy.

Castlerosse Park Resort Cottage

Situated at the edge of the woods behind the Castlerosse Park Resort golf course is this small cottage. We walked by it a few weeks ago when we were in the area to photograph the rutting.

There was a car parked directly outside, so it’s occupied, but it’s so solitary and in a secluded area, it was like finding a magic cottage in the wood.

Painting a Malaga Mural

A couple look at a mural of a woman in a blue dress on a street.

I spotted this mural being painted in Malaga a few weeks ago. A few people gathered around to watch. The mural is a striking painting of a woman in a blue dress, sitting in front of a landscape and a sunset.

The painting is called, “Brisa Estival” or “Summer Breeze” by the artist, Lalone, according to this report.

The translation above was done by Firefox, but Google Translate translated the name of the mural differently. You can find the painting, “Summer Days” by Vincente Palmaroli here.

It’s a fabulous mural. If you visit Malaga, it’s well worth seeing.

Flooding in Fitzgerald Park

Fitzgerald Park in Cork City is a bit flooded after the recent rain. The children’s play area is totally flooded, as it’s lower than the surrounding ground, and the pond is overflowing onto the surrounding path.

They were waiting for the River Lee to overflow about an hour later!

Narrator: vehicles weren’t removed

An electronic sign at a beach saying,
"Remove
Vehicles
in GOOD TIME"

It’s good to see a warning for motorists who park on Inch Beach in Co. Kerry. High tide was at 5:15pm yesterday, and motorists were urged to remove their vehicles “in GOOD TIME”.

We parked in the car park and left at 5:42pm, but there were still a few hardy souls on the beach with their cars. Including one German registered Land Rover Defender that was parked right next to the “No cars beyond this point”. I guess they wanted to use their spotless, clean vehicle in “extreme terrain” like a “sandy beach” just once before going back to the urban jungle.

Luckily, high tide isn’t high enough to submerge vehicles.

Curious Cows

Blarney is surrounded by fields, and up a country road from where I live you’ll find farm animals in the fields. It’s mostly cows, and when I approached a gate of one such field, the curious cows came over to watch this strange human on a bicycle.

Our Pets

Mommy Cat, the oldest of our cats passed away yesterday at somewhere around the age of 17. We’re not sure, because she adopted us around 15 years ago. We are sure that she was roaming the estate for some time before that.

She had lovely kittens, but only one is left now, Hoppy, who is in the centre of the image here.
