This is a tree that once stood in a large field near Blarney Castle, Co Cork, Ireland. It stood alone and was sometimes visible from the road but unfortunately it was chopped down a few weeks ago.
This was shot in February 2014 on a foggy, cold morning.
I was nominated on Facebook by two people (thanks Paul, thanks Claire) to post a monochrome image for five days so that’s what you can expect here this week! I’ll also be taking part in the photography 101 challenge on my WordPress.com blog at donncha.wordpress.com so make sure you subscribe, or follow me on Twitter/G+/FB where the usual notices are posted!
PS. I was reminded that this tree was known as the Fairy Tree by local people in Blarney. Thanks Mairéad!

We had thick white fog this morning in Blarney. At it’s worst I could probably see about twenty metres before everything became a white haze.
Shot on my Galaxy S4 and developed in Lightroom.
Fog covers the village of Blarney at the merest hint of a calm chilly morning and today was no exception. These are the trees across the road from my son’s school.

A SuperValu lorry delivers produce to their store in Dingle, Co Kerry a number of months ago. While the rest of the country basked in the first rays of a beautiful Summer we were lucky to get two nice days out of seven.
Love the area though, and the staff of the Dingle Skellig Hotel took great care of us!

The view from my office on a damp misty and foggy morning 10 days ago. I live on the side of a depression between two slight hills and fog builds up inside there occasionally.
Photowalk on Saturday! See the link above and please comment if you’re coming! We need numbers for the complementary lunch at the end 🙂

Fishing tackle, nets, and even a gas cylinder rest against a wall near Allihies Beach in West Cork.
I saw all this stuff just sitting there, looking all out of place in a field.
