A spinning ferris wheel is reflected in the bonnet of a nearby parked car

Henry spotted the reflection of the ferris wheel in this parked car on the Grand Parade in Cork.

The Ferris Wheel through the Crystall Ball

A close up of a glass ball through which a ferris wheel is seen, upside down.

As seen in a previous photo of the Ferris Wheel on the Grand Parade in Cork, the crystall ball that Henry brought along was a very useful prop.

Here we are at the top of the car park looking down on the big wheel. It surrounds the crystal ball, but the wheel itself can be seen upside down in the ball.

Now I’m remembering how cold it was that evening and how I wished I’d brought my gloves. Must get fingerless gloves so I can use the camera.

Seeing Double

The lights of a Ferris Wheel appear doubled as the camera moved during exposure. Lots of other lights move too.

Two for the price of one! The Ferris Wheel on Grand Parade has grown a twin!

Thanks, Henry, for the inspiration. Here is his double photo.

Lights along the Lee

Light reflected in the water of a river at night in a city. Bright Christmas decorations line the bank further down, while the top half of a Ferris Wheel is lit up and seen above local buidlings.
A car park stands next to the river.

Lights along the River Lee a couple of weeks ago when I joined Henry and Vivien for some photography. Henry got a fabulous shot of the wheel.

I’ll be posting some more shots of this over the next few days.

The Ferris Wheel after Sunset

The top half of the Ferris Wheel on Grand Parade with St. Fin Barr's Cathedral in the background and the sky is a lovely orange and purple

The Ferris Wheel on Grand Parade in Cork pictured just after sunset, in December 2016. This year the wheel is further up the street so you can’t get this photo now.

I haven’t been in town at sunset this month either but hopefully someone got a nice sunset photo of the wheel this year.

The Ferris Wheel and the Crystal Ball

A ferris wheel spins while traffic drives past and the whole scene is reflected in a small crystal ball

The Ferris wheel on Grand Parade in Cork on a freezing December evening. The whole scene is twisted upside down in a small crystal ball.

Thanks Henry for all the help, and the crystal ball!

The Ferris Wheel on the Grand Parade is gone now but just recently a crow was checking it out to see if it was fun or not.

Looking forward to 2022. It has to be better than 2021, and 2020.

Light Trails and the Ferris Wheel

Light Trails and the Ferris Wheel

I went into town today and after finding parking around Gilabbey Street I wandered around Grand Parade until the sun set and got a few photos of the ferris wheel there.

No stalls this year which is disappointing but with Covid19 on the rampage it’s understandable. Masks were seen inside and out among young and old.

There was a great festive mood in the city. Lots of families around, lots of music playing and people sitting outside shops and cafes drinking coffees, eating hot food and cold. I was amazed to see kids eat ice cream but it was a nice evening, not too cold in the city.
