Bus Stop Chronicles

I just read that Martin Parr passed away yesterday. He was a giant in street photography circles with a fantastic library of unusual photos showing a slice of life wherever he had his camera.

I was lucky enough to attend a Zoom call he hosted last year, showing photos and telling stories.

So, today’s image has to be a street photo. A busy scene on St. Patrick Street, Cork in 2017.

The Social Side of Shopping

When you’ve been to the shops, it’s nice to sit down with a friend for a chat.

Bicycles and Banter on Castle Street

I interrupted a conversation in process when I took this photo, as the man on the bike noticed me. I don’t think I’ve seen his since I took this photo in March, 2021.

Cycling Through Evergreen Street

These days, it’s so unusual to see a cyclist who isn’t a delivery person on the roads in Cork City that this man caught me by surprise as he turned into Industry Street from Evergreen Street.

Luckily I had my camera out, as I was walking down to Nano Nagle Place for their photography exhibit where I had a number of photos on display. Can’t believe that was in 2019.

A Moment in Red Stripes

I spotted this scene a couple of years ago while out with my photography club. It was all stripes: stripes on his polo shirt, and stripes on the shuttered shop behind him.

Everyday Life at the Market

A vendor in a market in Malaga places Strawberries out on display. It’s difficult to believe this was 2018. It seems like a lifetime away.
