Reflections on Wilton Terrace

A glass fronted building on Wilton Terrace is reflected in the waters of the canal in Dublin earlier this month. I thought it might be the Canadian Embassy, but Google Maps shows it’s a slightly different building.

Storm Clouds near Sandycove

As I walked to the Forty Foot a few days ago, I saw an ominous, dark cloud out at sea. Knowing that it would guarantee it wouldn’t rain, I got my umbrella from the car.

It didn’t rain.

The trees and the statue

Near the Forty Foot in Dún Laoghaire is a statue with religious carvings on it. For once, Google Maps wasn’t too helpful about what the statue was called.

Hopefully, someone from the area will see this and let me know what it’s called.

Edit: Thanks Oisin, the statue is called Stele.

A European Starling in Dún Laoghaire

A starling perched on a railing in the seaside town of Dún Laoghaire watches the goings-on in the nearby café. Pickings will be slim today as the establishment is being renovated and is not serving customers today!

Seaside Adventures with a Buggy

When the family is enjoying themselves, leave the buggy close by. A lovely day in Dún Laoghaire when Sandycove was thronged, but people made the most of the day, even if the area was a little rocky.

Poolbeg Power station behind gates

I spotted this gate at the Forty Foot in Dún Laoghaire yesterday, and then noticed the decommissioned Poolbeg Power station was visible through the bars. There weren’t any swimmers about at this end of the Forty Foot, so I got a few photos of two iconic symbols of Dublin in one scene!

Paddleboarding with his dog

I was in Dún Laoghaire today on a beautiful afternoon. Sandycove Beach and the Forty Foot were both thronged with swimmers and people relaxing. I wish I brought my togs and a towel, but I had my camera and snapped a photo of this gentleman with his dog out on the water, paddleboarding!
