The doctor is out
The doctor is out, and won’t ever be in again. Photo of the half-demolished buildings that became the ugly grey building across from Carroll’s Quay carpark on Leitrim Street, Cork. Shot in April 2005.
Eyes on Fregatte Köln
Crewmen on the Fregatte Köln when it visited Cork in 2005 kept a close eye on me, Ryan and AJ as we photographed every inch of the ship we could see. Looking back over these photos reminds me that this was the day the cheap memory card I used at the time failed on me…
Lots of Heineken
Heineken. ’nuff said!
Sean O Connor’s Dental Laboratory
I never noticed this sign for a dental laboratory on Castle Street before. Maybe it’s the large gaping hole in the streetscape next to it that caught my eye? It must be a really old sign, that phone number had a “4” prefix added to it many years ago.
Derelict and red brick
A long unused, derelict and run down red brick building on the Old Youghal Road. This was shot last September, first time I’d been up around this area in a few years. Nothing much had changed in all those years.
Academy Street Under Rubble
Academy Street, as it was back in August this year. Construction work has finished since. I wonder if it’ll ever start up again?
Magic Water
Water laps the shore at Fountainstown Beach on a crisp September evening.
Unlock the Church
The side gate to SS Peter and Paul’s Church in Cork City remains open during the day.
Light and cloud on the Atlantic
Clouds over the Atlantic off Slea Head play with the light beams hitting the water.
Bike Park
The bike park on Patrick’s Street, Cork.
Director’s Cut
First of all Virgin Megastore was sold off to Zavvi and shortly afterwards they had a liquidation sale and went under. Now Director’s Cut are in there and it’s a depressing store. There’s no piped music to liven the dead atmosphere, oh dear!
Pub of the year for sale
The Woodford on Patrick’s Street Cork closed some time ago. Shame really as it was a nice pub.
