Festive Commerce in Cork

Brown Thomas on Patrick Street, Cork, is all lit up again for Christmas. On Oliver Plunkett Street they’ve put up the usual decorations and they look fabulous!

Night-time photograph of pedestrians walking on Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork, beneath cascading golden fairy lights creating a canopy effect overhead, large red neon-illuminated festive spheres and decorative motifs suspended above the street, blurred figures in winter clothing in motion, storefront signage visible at street level.

Christian does a nice edit of a panorama in Lightroom Classic. I learned something new – use the aspect slider to adjust the oddities of LrC panoramas.

The Christmas Lights of Malaga

Is it too late to post Christmas photos? The Christmas lights of Malaga are a fabulous sight to see. Spanish people really take celebrating the holidays seriously, with lots of happy faces to be seen everywhere!

My neighbours decorate their houses with lights and decorations at Christmas time each year. Here’s a few snapshots of their efforts.

Happy Christmas! Have a great day today!

Sparkling Flowing Christmas Lights

Blue glowing and sparkling Christmas lights flow down from the roof of Benetton on Oliver Plunkett St. in Cork.

I loved the reflection in the car and had to take this shot. It was hand held and I’m quite sure I pumped up the ISO quite a bit to get a half-decent shutter speed. Resizing helps to hide and smooth out the noise!

Walking through the urban environment the seemingly normal assortment of rubbish or objects can make an image that bit more interesting. This was taken in August, but guess who forgot to bring in the Christmas lights?

Oh yes, a small tip if you’re adding noise to an image. You’ll need to do it twice. Once for your full size image, and a second time when you resize. After resizing noise, it gets blurred and is nowhere near as effective.

PS. I really like An Incidental Shot – the photographer who’s quick off the mark will get the shot!

PPS. Micki has finished blogging on Shutterbug Underexposed and she’ll be missed. Many blogs have fallen by the wayside over the past 2 years, but it takes time and it’s not always easy to find that time.

Christmas Street Lights

The Christmas lights in Mallow, Co. Cork illuminate the streets with a lovely cheerful glow.

A passing car provides another source of light in this long exposure shot on the main street of the town.
