Style Living Eating

The construction site that is Dunnes Stores on Patrick’s Street. I wonder if the staff in Dorothy Perkins are bothered by the noise?

PS. My brother Donal is Mr May in the Top Oil 2009 Calendar!

Innards of the Building

The old Dunnes Stores building on Patrick’s Street in Cork is keeping it’s old style and attractive front facade. Phew. I still think it’s odd how a building site juts out behind it though.

PS. The nominations form for the Irish Blog Awards is now open. If you feel it deserves it, I’d be very grateful if you would nominate this blog in the “Best Photoblog” section. Like last year, I’m not going to stick a huge “vote for me” link on the blog and this is the only mention of the awards I’ll make.

Smiles all around

The smiling attractive face of a model appeared on the hoarding surrounding the building site that is Dunnes Stores in Cork several months ago. It hasn’t had much of an effect on all however.

Gavin

Dunnes Stores in the centre of Cork City is being rebuilt as part of a major development. This is the first in a series of photos I’ll publish over the next few days.

This was taken very close to this photo shot about 10 months before!

Murphy’s

A Murphy’s Stout glass sits on a wall on the island of Cape Clear. That’s not Murphy’s in it obviously. That’d be a strange looking stout!

Happy new year everyone!

Singing

One of the carol singers featured a few days ago singing her heart out on Patrick’s Street, Cork.

Idle Machinery

Cranes towering over Cork City sit idle as the sun sets on a late October day in 2008. I suspect this scene will become more rare as the recession bites.

Fuchsia

Fuchsia flowers are really difficult to photograph. You need a macro lens because the flower is so small and a regular lens has trouble focusing so close. The flowers hang down and catch the wind so easily it’s quite a challenge to get a steady shot. Here’s one I shot earlier in Fountainstown, Co Cork a few months back.

Best Business Premises

A few months ago I posted a photo of General Michael Collins on the wall of the Eldon Hotel in Skibereen, Co Cork. That hotel received the “Best Business Premises” award in 1997. Unfortunately it appears they’ve run out of business judging by the state of the exterior.

Apt 14

Reserved spaces for the apartments in Blackpool Shopping Center sit idle. Some are always used but I wonder how many they sold The location is great, but it must be very noisy to live there.
