The Jellyfish at Blarney Castle
Over the next few days in Blarney Castle there’s a new pop-up garden to visit inside the walls of the building. In it, you’ll find an aquarium that is home to a group of moon jellyfish surrounded by specially selected plants and beautiful art work. The Irish Examiner has published an article on it this…
The Last Supermoon of 2022
The Moon is almost 90% of it’s closest approach to Earth right now, which is why it’s called a Supermoon but it’s not much bigger than it usually is. Thankfully the air is clear and the skies are mostly devoid of clouds so I got a nice photo of the Moon last night. 🙂
Clearing The Storm Debris
Back in October 2017, storms blew several trees down on to the Waterloo Road. Within a few hours work crews had started work on clearing the area. Oddly enough they waited to do the major work until Eoghan Murphy, a minister in the government, arrived to observe. It was enlightening to see them start working…
The Flowers of Waterloo
Beautiful flowers around the church and round tower at Waterloo, Cork. A credit to the Waterloo Renewal Group.
The old house by the Castle
If you’ve been to Blarney recently you won’t have seen this house. It was cleared several years ago and is now an open stretch of grass, and new wooden buildings used by the staff of Blarney Castle. February 2015.
The Blarney Fun Run 2022
Most of the kids and some of the adults who took part in the Blarney Fun Run today. Blistering heat didn’t stop this group enjoying themselves and I saw lots of happy smiles as kids crossed the finish line. Surrounded by everyone else is Michael, the Little Blue Hero. He was guest of honour and…
A tree at sunset
Walking through the grounds of Blarney Castle late one November evening when the sun is setting. The shadows grow long and black fills the spaces between orange light.
The Clougheenmillcon Deer
I was out with members of Blarney Photography Club last night at Clougheenmillcon near Blarney. Deer have been spotted in the area but I’d only glimpsed one while driving past some months ago. A runner approached me with a big smile asking if I’d seen the deer. It was about 300m further on down the…
A Surreal Sunset
In September 2015 the evening sky took on this lovely orange hue just as the sun set behind clouds on the horizon.
STOP in Motion
Just a little fun with a snapshot of a STOP sign near Blarney.
The Colours of Autumn
The golden colours of Autumn are a firm favourite of every photographer. Here’s a reminder of what they look like as trees in the northern hemisphere are now showing green shoots and daffodils are flowering.
Blackbird in the bushes
A very busy blackbird stopped still for 5 seconds so I could catch a photo of it. He was digging around, throwing up leaves and hunting around between branches. Building material for a nest perhaps?
