We had thick white fog this morning in Blarney. At it’s worst I could probably see about twenty metres before everything became a white haze.

Sunrise over Blarney
This morning my son and I joined other parents and children to walk to school. It was a beautiful morning and I captured the glow of the early morning sun before it broke over the horizon and over the roof of Blarney Woollen Mills.

Blarney House, an impressive building on the grounds of Blarney Castle in Co. Cork, Ireland. It’s a private residence but during the summer there are guided tours every half hour.

Never once in my wildest nightmares did I ever imagine that I’d post a camera phone image as a single post but here it is. Taken with my Samsung Galaxy S4. There’s obvious JPEG artefacts when you view the original at 100% but this 800×600 pixel image is good enough for web viewing and Lightroom does wonders even with JPEG files.
I’ve posted many more photos from the S4 on my Google Plus account but they’re straight from the camera and “enhanced” by G+ and still look pretty good!

Cherry Blossom under the Castle
Cherry blossom trees never fail to make my wife Jacinta gasp as they’re so beautiful. This one is in the grounds of Blarney Castle and I don’t think she knows (or she’s forgotten) it’s there!
Many years ago I posted another photo of cherry blossom on the day of our wedding. It’s not quite that day yet but I wanted to share this photo today as it’s so nice outside this morning.

Hank Wedel and band in the Castle Hotel, Blarney
Hank Wedel? and band at the Castle Hotel in Blarney on Sunday night. The band played a blinder despite the fact there was next to no room for them. These photos weren’t me walking up to them and sticking a camera in their faces, I had to lean back!

The St Patrick’s Day Parade 2013 in Blarney
Just a few photos from the short but colourful and noisy St Patrick’s Day Parade in Blarney this year. This parade proved more popular than other years as cars parked as far away as the park I live in. I don’t remember that ever happening before!

To Kiss the Blarney Stone
If you ever wondered where the Blarney Stone was just look up. This shot was taken from a balcony looking into the exposed interior of Blarney Castle. The people at the top of the building are standing around the Blarney Stone and it looks like there’s one brave soul yet to perform the deed. The other two are Castle employees.
You see, you have to lie flat on the stone walkway high above there and lean out backwards while holding on to two railings and then kiss the stone just below floor level. Don’t worry. There are bars below you. I’ve never heard of anyone falling to their death! One of those guys holds on to you while you kiss the Stone and the other takes a photo.
