The Adventures of an Ice cream fridge

An ice cream fridge is loaded into a van from a shop on Patrick's Street, Cork. Two men hold the mid section while another man bends down to lift it up. The end of a van and it's doors are visible on the right.

A fridge is removed from a corner shop on St. Patrick’s Street, Cork. The shop itself is now empty, but I’m sure it won’t be long until a phone shop or vape shop opens there.

Revolving chess board

A chessboard warped by the intentional sideways movement of the camera.

The squares of a chessboard become a blur as the camera is flung sideways as the shutter opens.

It’s the chessboard in Crosshaven, not that you’d recognise it from the photo!

Laurel & Hardy visited Cobh in Co. Cork today, exactly 70 years after they last visited in 1953! The two gentlemen are looking exceedingly well for their age, I’m sure you’ll agree. They put on a fine show, doing several sketches and singing a few favourites and doing a dance.

Lucky Dog Theatre Productions were in town this weekend for this special anniversary, and were helped by Haulbowline Theatre Group. They were so good. There were lots of laughs. 🙂

Lines on the wall

A pipe snakes up a wall, while the branches of a bush cling to the wall.

A drain pipe comes down the wall, taking corners in strict lines, while the thin branches of a bush cling to the smooth surface. The branches look like they want to smother or envelop the wall, but the branches are bare. The wall is smooth. All dead.

Lodge 234

I was surprised to see the Masonic Square and Compass logo on a weathered door in Kinsale a few weeks ago. Luckily there’s no public park next door where they can buy a plot of land to extend the building for €1 like they did in Cork City.

CORK city councillors have voted to dispose of a section of land in Bishop Lucey Park to the Freemasons to allow for an extension of the Freemasons’ Hall on Tuckey St.

The area of ground, approximately 53.6m², will be disposed to Craft Properties Limited – the legal entity for The Provincial Grand Lodge of Munster Freemasons – for the sum of €1, plus costs of €1,500 plus VAT.

Chatting to the bus driver

Wind Blown Clouds

Wind blows the clouds over a silhouetted house on a hill in a black and white photo.

Looking up from the rocks in Ballycotton I spotted this house and magnificent clouds overhead. The wind was blowing hard up there high in the sky and the clouds moved visibly as I watched.

It didn’t take me long to realise I needed to photograph it!

Giant Bubbles in London

A man created huge bubbles in London with two poles and string with little loops, and one huge loop. Adults and kids watch and try to burst them.

Away back in 2016, when the Rebel Street Photography group when to London for the day we passed by this man creating huge bubbles. Adults and kids alike were entertained!

The Eye Sees All

Graffiti on a wall. An eye in a triangle with a starry background overlaid on the face of a screaming bearded man.

This graffiti caught my eye when I walked past. It was on the corner of Barrack Street and Fort Street in Cork. The eye sees you and the man screams at you.

It’s long gone now, this photo was made in 2019!

The Horse in the box

A horse in a horsebox looks out at me from across the road.

On the day before the Dingle Races I saw a horse looking out of a horse box. His owner had gone into the nearby petrol station and came back a few minutes later.
