I heard him say, “sorry”, when his dog barked and scared all the pigeons, but he did me a favour. The pigeons in Bishop Lucey Park weren’t doing much!

A walk by the office

In and around the Court House in Santa Barbara, there were a number of wedding groups having their photos taken. This is one recently married couple I spotted in the corridor outside the main Court House. A lovely setting for photos.

I wonder if that couple in the background knew them, or were they just curious tourists like me?

A tourist stares

Parisian Tourists

On a road leading to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Tourists line in the middle of the road, in relative safety from passing cars, but other tourists stop and take photos with their phones.

Human imitates statue

A woman sitting next to a statue unintentionally imitates the statue by resting her arm on the block the statue sits on.

The Jeunesse d’Aristote is a statue made by Charles Degeorge and is currently in the Musée d’Orsay, Paris.

Sometimes, we humans, unintentionally imitate others, even inanimate objects. Or maybe it’s just a comfortable way to sit. Degeorge captured that amazingly well in his work here.

We thought the summer rain was bad..

Remember when people thought the rain in late July and August 2023 was bad? What about Storm Isha yesterday, eh? Another storm on the way too.

The start of June was blisteringly hot. It was so hot I preferred to stay inside out of it. Nobody seems to remember that.

Oh, the photo above is obviously not recent. It’s last August, during the wet spell.

Ian Bailey and The West Cork Way
