The Clougheenmillcon Deer

The Clougheenmillcon Deer

I was out with members of Blarney Photography Club last night at Clougheenmillcon near Blarney. Deer have been spotted in the area but I’d only glimpsed one while driving past some months ago.

A runner approached me with a big smile asking if I’d seen the deer. It was about 300m further on down the path towards Killeens. I was tired already but decided I needed to see it with my own eyes.

Sure enough, it was calmly eating grass by the side of the path. I had my long telephoto lens but there was really no need for it as the animal was so close!

After a few minutes of eating, looking around warily and walking to find the best grass he suddenly galloped off and disappeared into the brush.

A white cat that lives at the top of Patrick’s Hill, taken very near to where this was taken many years before.

Lots more Life photos of Cork too. Many of recognisable locations.

Shih Tzu in the sun

Shih Tzu in the sun

We attended a beautiful christening in Fermoy today and afterwards it was off to Mitchelstown where we joined the other guests in a light lunch of finger food and sandwiches. Loved that apple tart afterwards. Yum!

This is our shih tzu, Oscar, who we took along for the drive. After the main course was over half the crowd piled out onto the adjoining terrace and so I got Oscar from the car. He had a great time, and was a big hit with all the kids but we did warn them he was a little odd and liable to snap so they were careful. Later I checked the temperature in the car dashboard and it said 25C which I hope is as hot as it’s going to get in Ireland this year. I had to seek the shade, it was so hot!
