I was there too
Some of the statues that decorate the entrances to St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral in Cork.
Taken while we waited for the Cathedral to open so we could hear beautiful classical music played that evening by London Concertante.

This morning is a beautiful start to the week. Fog in the distance and the fiery orange ball of the sun shining through clear skies. Blarney Castle was lit up in a lovely orange glow and I had to spend a few minutes away from the busy bustle of life to get this photo.

The Ukrainian flag flies over Cork City Hall this evening as it has done since late February in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

St Luke’s Church and Graveyard in Douglas. I have a few memories of this church from the early eighties. A man named Mr Good lived in the gate house nearby and I visited there once with my mother. I remember it because he had a kaleidoscope that fascinated me. It was the first time I’d seen such a wondrous device! Probably in 1979, or 1980, the shed next door became a class room for some time and I remember sitting at a desk looking around at other kids.
I haven’t visited the graveyard since, but I’d like to go back for a wander around.

Fireworks lit the sky over Cobh last night as part of the St. Patrick’s Day festivities. I’m glad Henry heard about the event as I had no idea it was on!

The first St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Cork since 2019 and the rain held off for most of the day and a great parade was put on by the city.
The photos above don’t do it justice. I couldn’t include every group but hopefully it will be an indication of the effort put in by a huge number of people. Well done everyone who took part!
