The yellow glow of sunset

I walked out my front door last night and spotted a fiery sunset behind the houses across the road. The colour slowly changed over the next ten minutes as the sun sunk further and further beyond the horizon.

I took 151 photos of the sky that night, most of them taken with me waggling my camera back and forth to capture some sweet ICM.

This was shot at f/13 so there were plenty of dust spots to heal. Luckily you can copy heals from one photo to another and if they’re the AI kind, Lightroom Classic will calculate the best way to heal each time.

Streaks of Sunset Light

You may have seen the stunning sunset photo from Crosshaven that I shared yesterday. Well, here’s another shot of it for you.

This one doesn’t look like a typical sunset, does it? Except for the warm orange glow. That’s because I used a technique called Intentional Camera Movement, or ICM for short. It involves zooming in on the boats in the water and moving the camera from side to side while taking the shot. The boats are the dark part of the photo, while the reflected sunlight in the water provided the rich orange streaks.

The result is a beautiful abstract image with streaks of colour and light. Next time I’m shooting a sunset over water, I’ll be trying this again!

Sunset in Crosshaven

The sun sets over Curraghbinny Wood as I watched from the Crosshaven side. There was the most amazing glow in the sky that lasted several minutes, a nice end to a glorious day.

Before the races start at the Point to Point, the bookies are quiet. Signs and umbrellas and a few people.

I’ve only been to a few point to point or other horse races, but you can rely on there being bookies present to take your money.

A doggy resting in the shade

Global Warning

I’m not quite sure what to say about this man and his “Global War n ing” sign. I’ve talked to him a few times as he’s stood at the same spot most Saturdays for the last few years. All I know, is he’s a crack pot conspiracy theorist.

Construction of the Camden Quay Hotel

The Shein Lines

A Shein popup shop opened in Opera Lane recently. It’s only open for a short time and huge lines of people have gathered waiting to get in there.

Plants grow everywhere

A few straggling plants grow out of the down pipe of the gutters on a building. The old tiles on the roof are visible as are two windows built into the roof.

Near the top of Patrick’s Hill in Cork I spotted these plants growing from the gutter of a building. Good thing plants don’t have a fear of heights because there was a large drop from there. 🙂

Sailing past Roches Point
