Blarney on April 24, 2008

I had to get the car fixed today. A ball bearing was broken in one of the rear wheels and driving was like one of those modded cars with huge exhausts. Noisy and annoying. So, I took the car down to Blarney Auto Centre where they sorted it out this afternoon. I took the opportunity...

Sheila

This boat, Sheila, has been tied up in Cobh for I don't know how long. This photo was taken in 2006 but the last time I was in Cobh around this area I remember seeing it. I wonder what's the story with it?

Cobh boats and cathedral

Boats tied to the quay in Cobh, Co. Cork. Cobh Cathedral is visible in the background. I could have removed that wire but it was a pain to get the details of the Cathedral in.

Blue Doors

Blue doors in Bantry, Co. Cork.

Empty road on Slea Head

An empty road curves around Slea Head, Co. Kerry on a beautiful September day in 2006.

Blarney on April 20th, 2008

Adam is 1 tomorrow so we went out for lunch this afternoon. I really shouldn't have had that chocolate cheescake. Yum though. Blarney was full of tourists wandering everywhere. The infamous "invulnerability zone" all tourists feel around them makes driving very hazardous, especially in the grounds of Blarney Woollen Mills. We had a party for...

Great ball of flame

Sunrise over Blarney a few days ago. There was a thin layer of cloud on the horizon that nicely blocked out much of the light of the sun allowing me to capture this early morning sun. It's amazing to think that the light we see takes 8 minutes to travel the immense distance between the...

Cork City Streets on April 19, 2008

This is an experiment. I am hoping to post (almost) every photo I take as small 400px wide images using the new gallery function in WordPress 2.5. These posts won't appear in the feed because of the number of thumbnails Feedreaders won't see the gallery, and only an excerpt will be shown on the homepage...

EI-128 at rest on the beach

Glider EI-128 sitting on the sand at Inch Strand, Co. Kerry in 2006. I've posted a few photos of this glider in the past and I can safely say this is the last one unless I happen to see it again!

Guide Me

Guide Me, a boat left high and dry above the beach at Baile Na nGall in Co. Kerry. Declan from O'Learys Camera World rang this morning. My lens has arrived. I'll go collect it tomorrow!

Exit

This way to the EXIT. This is a sign in Biosphere 2 in Arizona. Can you imagine how enticing it would be to get out of a building after spending a year inside there? Declan from O'Learys rang this morning. Good news. He got on to the boss at the Sigma repair company who told...

The biggest drip in Cobh

A water tap on the quay in Cobh, Co. Cork drips slowly into the sea. This is a favourite photo of mine.
