A few photos taken in Crosshaven in May 2023 when I visited there with Blarney Photography Club. A bit of fun with swirling the camera around as I took the photos.

When you walk into the Oceanogràfic de València in (guess where) Valencia, you’ll spot large glowing tanks of water. They’re underground, presumably to help keep them cool in the hot Spanish climate and unfortunately, most people just walked straight past them.
Now, I’m not a huge fan of jellyfish, but they’re a beautiful animal to watch from a safe, non-touching, distance. So, of course, I took a bunch of photos of them. 🙂

Jaysus, I nearly dropped me phone when I spotted this scene in the Musée d’Orsay like. There’s your man on the left, pure glued to his iPhone, probably updating his Insta or whatever, and the other fella hanging on to some pamphlet or other. And there in the middle, this massive marble yoke, probably worth more than me gaff, just sitting there being completely ignored. Had to grab the shot with the camera – savage composition altogether. It’s gas when you think about it – here we are in one of the fanciest museums in Paris, and the only one paying attention to anything is yer man in the statue. Reminds me of walking down Patrick Street, with everyone’s heads buried in their phones while the city’s gorgeous architecture looms above them. Mad stuff altogether, boy.
(A bit over the top, but that’s how Perplexity thinks Cork people sound like. Accurate?)

A white rhino wanders near a pool of water in Bioparc Valencia, Spain.
In 2023, two rhinos arrived in the zoo and in December that year, they had the largest group of this threatened species in Spain. The biggest threat to them is, of course, humans who want to poach the animals for their horns in a misguided attempt to provide folk medicine.

Looks like someone wasn’t that careful parking here. The poor parking sign is doing an imitation of the Leaning Tower of Pisa!
Happy new year to you, dear reader. I’ve been posting photos here for twenty years this year. My first image, this yellow flower, is only 700px wide, but with the advent of high-resolution screens I’m now posting 1280px wide ones. I’ve gone through times when I used the featured image of the post instead of embedding it in the post like I did with this one, and that lasted for a year or two. To deal with those posts, I wrote a small function that copies that image into the post if it’s not already there. It seems to be working OK.
Here’s to the next twenty years. Gulp.
I also decided to embrace the new WordPress Twenty Twenty Five theme, and play around with the formatting of blocks. Nothing fancy at all. Just the bare bones, really.

A lady bringing her two dogs for a walk had to deal with one being more enthusiastic than the other. I don’t remember if I had Diego with me this day when I photographed them, but that lead dog certainly didn’t want to dilly-dally. He had places to go! Important things to do! 🙂
