Alone in the crowd
Momentarily alone in a crowd at the Dingle Races a few years ago.
Making Plans in London
A woman, deep in thought, wondering what she’ll buy at a market in London a few years ago. I only noticed she had her glasses sitting on her head. Ingenious! I hate wearing sunglasses while walking, as I have to replace them with my glasses when I go somewhere dark.
Sweep away the old year
2023 is almost over here in Ireland. How’s 2024 in Australia? Let’s say goodbye to what has been a mixed year and hope for a better 2024. Happy new year! Edit a short while later: I shouldn’t have asked about Australia. They’re suffering from a terrible heatwave of 49.5℃!
Inside a spooky shop
Argh, the bats! The bats! Well, they’re very realistic, aren’t they? Spotted in a Bubble Tea shop in Dublin last year around this time of year.
One Hot Hit!
A woman checks her phone in front of the Covent Garden Underground station, with a huge poster for Frozen, the musical, behind her.
The Chauffeur and the Rolls
I was waiting for someone to come out of a shop, so I did some street photography while I was in London. I found a chauffeur standing in front of his Rolls Royce car, waiting, too. I wonder who owns the car?
Red Clouds at Sunset
Clouds in the sky are lit up by the sun after it has set. They’re a vivid red thanks to the light travelling through the thick atmosphere just beyond the horizon.
Rowing on the River Lee
A rowing boat on the River Lee on a warm August evening 2022. The lovely warm glow of the sun shines on the grass nearby, but the river bank opposite is in shadow.
Betting on the horses
A woman collects a receipt after making a bet at the Dingle races last year.
Never a phone when you want one…
I guess if you’re in London you probably won’t have much trouble finding a public phone. A group of them stood here, wherever it is. Empty and alone.Meanwhile, traffic passes in the background, casting eerie light trails through the photo.
Robert, the Street Photographer
Me and Robert on Oliver Plunkett Street in front of the Old Oak I never did give Robert the expired rolls of film I promised him. I even took them with me the last time we did street photography in Cork, but I left them in the car. “Next time”, I said to him. The…
So much red
While waiting to cross the road on Grand Parade, I saw a man hurry across the road, dragging a black suitcase. He was in a rush, in contrast with the family in front of me who were checking for traffic before crossing. I love all the red in this photo. Her dress, his t-shirt, their…
