Never a phone when you want one…

I guess if you’re in London you probably won’t have much trouble finding a public phone. A group of them stood here, wherever it is. Empty and alone.

Robert, the Street Photographer

I never did give Robert the expired rolls of film I promised him. I even took them with me the last time we did street photography in Cork, but I left them in the car. “Next time”, I said to him.

The odd thing about photography is, I have loads of photos of perfect strangers, but not many of people I know. Lightroom says I only have 38 photos of Robert, going back to 2015.

He was such a larger than life figure, enthusiastic about all things photography, especially Leica and street photography. A lovely guy to meet for a walk around town and a chat afterwards.

Can’t believe you’re gone, Robert. They better have cameras there.

So much red

While waiting to cross the road on Grand Parade, I saw a man hurry across the road, dragging a black suitcase. He was in a rush, in contrast with the family in front of me who were checking for traffic before crossing.

I love all the red in this photo. Her dress, his t-shirt, their bags, I love that both parties have suitcases.

The photo was made a year ago today, and I am posting a street photo because I heard today that a fellow street photographer, and friend, Robert, has suffered another heart attack and is in hospital. I hope he has a speedy recovery, and we’ll be snapping the streets again when he’s able!

Horse is a picky eater

Down by Garrettstown Beach in Co Cork I spotted a horse in a field. He was by himself and I went over to say hi, and take his photo.

He’s obviously had enough of people taking his photo, or maybe he ate something unpleasant, to judge by the look on his face. 🙂

Surreal Flowers in Dublin

The winds blows softly

Clouds blur with movement, and grass bends against the wind in a long exposure photo at a beach in Kerry. Rocks in the foreground, Grass on a hill, with a broken fence on top, and the cloudy sky above.

On a lovely evening in August last year I was walking along a beach with my wife. The sun was getting low in the sky casting a faintly yellow glow over the world.

This long exposure shot captures the movement of cloud, and the wind blown grass. Even though there wasn’t much wind, it’s all relative when the photo is 13 seconds long.

Psst. Don’t tell anyone, but there’s a really nice beach around the corner from Wine Strand!

In the future we won’t talk at all

People ordering food in McDonalds using their kiosks. Four people are at the machines, mostly dressed for the night in dark clothes and coats while one young woman is dressed as if it wasn't cold and wet outside.

We just tap tap tap on the screens to order. The man watching me take the photo never said a word either.

It was Halloween, did you notice the horns on her head?
