Shandon Bells
The clock tower of St. Anne’s Church in Shandon is more well known as “Shandon Bells” after the bells that ring out there through out the day. We were so lucky with the weather on Saturday on our little photowalk. Wasn’t it Aidan’s idea to head up to Shandon? Inspired! Everyone had a great time….
North Cathedral, Cork
The Cathedral of St. Mary & St. Anne, or the North Cathedral as it’s known in Cork sits right in the middle of this photo. It’s the city’s Catholic cathedral. A large portion of the north side of Cork City surrounds it. Blackpool is immediately behind it, and you can see the Heineken Brewery on…
Bird’s Eye View
Bird’s eye view from the top of Shandon Bells on the north side of Cork City. If you look carefully you’ll see a few photobloggers sitting on the steps of the church. Scary taking this photo. I held the camera over empty space while holding the strap! See you all later at the Irish Blog…
Piper’s Funfair Crosshaven
A bright and colourful poster advertises Piper’s Funfair in Crosshaven! In other news, this blog is a finalist in the Irish Blog Awards on Saturday next in the Cork International Airport Hotel. Waltzer
A truck in Piper’s Amusements, Crosshaven, bears the logo “Waltzer”. Not quite as much fun as the Waltzers funfair ride but there was no sign of them yesterday!
Jack Bergin, Crosshaven Hero
We spent a pleasant afternoon in Crosshaven today. It was mild enough to actually enjoy a walk up towards the fort on the hill. As I walked past the merries I spotted this plaque. It must have been hidden every other time as I don’t remember it ever being there. The inscription reads: OUR GRATITUDE…

193 steps to Covent Garden
193 steps, but they’re all going up. We arrived in the Underground station at Covent Garden in the middle of the day when queues for the elevators up were *sooo* long. Actually, I didn’t know this at all. I had dawdled behind taking a few photos and recognised a few faces darting down a side…
Opel
The badge of the rented car we had while the wipers of our car were being repaired a few weeks back. It snowed too 🙂
Father Mathew’s Yoyo
The statue of Father Mathew, the “Apostle of Temperance”, is a prominent landmark in Cork City. It’s at one end of St. Patrick Street looking north to the river. Some joker gave him a yoyo to pass the time.. More on Wikipedia.
Good food causes cancer
If accompanied by a cigarette, any kind of good food isn’t going to help your increased risk of getting cancer from smoking. Shot on Carey’s Lane a few weeks ago. The girl who left the cigarettes came back a moment after I took this shot. Have you noticed that more women smoke than men? Is…
