Build ’em up and knock ’em down
We build them up and then knock them down. It’s expected that demolition of empty houses and residential housing estates will be a boon for the construction industry before too long. Wild Woodbine
Wild Woodbine, an advert in Cronins Pub, sits under the counter. The pub is full of memorabilia which adds atmosphere but I suppose they were probably bought in a dusty warehouse full of such things for the tourists. Very nice pub though.
Carriganass Castle
Carriganass Castle in Co Cork lies a few miles from Bantry. It was a dull wet day when I visited so I didn’t stay too long!
Turning Circle of the QE2
The Queen Elizabeth 2 took several minutes to turn in the harbour outside Cobh in Co Cork. Plenty of spectators watching from boats as the sun started to sink behind the horizon.
Racist Fools
A sticker on a lamp post on Parliament Bridge in Cork encourages racists fools to follow their leader, with an image of Hitler blowing his brains out. Shot almost a month ago.
Chains on the Quay
Rusty chains lie unused on a quay in Sheep’s Head, Co Cork.
Lounge
The door to the lounge in Cronin’s Pub in Crosshaven, Co Cork. Nice pub, had many a relaxing cup of tea there with the family after a walk around the town.
Calor
Calor gas bottles sit on the quay in Baltimore Co Cork, waiting to be collected. I presume they’re empty or someone would have made off with them.. PS. One of my photos was used in Day 9 on photochallenge.org.
Biosphere 2 Blue
Biosphere 2 in Arizona on a cold day in January last year.
Last of the Construction Workers
Recession, recession, re… The R Word. Construction workers on the site of the new shopping center in Cork City on Patrick’s Street. I walked past this entrance a few times and the guy in the blue jumper was standing in the same place, watching me each time. Scary.
Singing
One of the carol singers featured a few days ago singing her heart out on Patrick’s Street, Cork.
Always Asking
