Liam Foley RIP
Man on the street I have a story to tell. A story I’ve been meaning to tell for more than a year now. Many moons ago I posted the picture above. It was taken on August 28th, 2006 and posted shortly afterwards. Just over a year later Sinead Foley, niece of the man pictured above…
The little rowing boat
A small rowing boat lies beached on the rocks under holiday homes in Puerto Del Carmen, Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.
Puerto Del Carmen Boats
I could post a photo of the snow that fell this morning in Blarney but I think everyone is sick of the cold weather. Instead here’s a photo from my honeymoon in Lanzarote. This was taken in Puerto Del Carmen on a roasting hot day when even the ground was too hot to touch! More…
so many people pass me by
Footsteps in the sand speak of many people passing this way. Shot at Garrettstown Beach in October 2006. A very different shot to my previous Footprints in the sand. Remember a few weeks ago I explained how I backed up my photos? Good thing I have backups as my first external drive has possibly died….
Windswept Daisies
Daisies cling to the sparse earth at the water’s edge in Fountainstown, Co Cork. This was taken just a few metres from my previous Fountainstown picture and was mocking me for over 2 years, sitting in my “Work in Progress” folder, defying my attempts to capture the feeling of that cold October day in 2006.
The tide is out at Fountainstown
The tide was out on this evening when we visited Fountainstown in Co Cork in 2006. This photo of a boat was taken across those mud flats on a later visit so there’s plenty of opportunity for photographers there.
Sunset Glow at Doneraile Park
The setting sun cast a beautiful glow on the trees near Doneraile House in Doneraile Park in November 2006. That was a cold day, wind blew through us despite the warm coats we wore. My wife was pregnant at the time and we were in the park with her sister Gerry so it’s a memorable…
Reflections on Kinsale
If you walk along the quay in Kinsale, Co Cork and glance across the harbour you’ll see the houses above. I’ve always wondered who lives over there and what do they think of the busy tourist town across the water.
An Fear Marbh san uisce
An Fear Marbh, or “The Dead Man” in English lies off the coast of Co. Kerry. I posted another photo of the island taken on the same night as this one here, but it was such a beautiful evening I took quite a few shots!
Sheila
This boat, Sheila, has been tied up in Cobh for I don’t know how long. This photo was taken in 2006 but the last time I was in Cobh around this area I remember seeing it. I wonder what’s the story with it?
Empty road on Slea Head
An empty road curves around Slea Head, Co. Kerry on a beautiful September day in 2006.
A Rainbow over Cobh
A rainbow brightens up the dark clouds threatening Cobh in Co. Cork in late 2006. You can see Cobh Cathedral in the background, and I’d swear the boats in the foreground are still there in the same position all these years later ..
