Holy Trinity Church, St. Nicholas Church, and St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral in one photo from October 2005. Also included if you look carefully are the College of Commerce, the now demolished tax office on Sullivan’s Quay and off in the distance the County Hall.

Michael Mansfield of Ardmore, Co Waterford

Many years ago I published a few photos of Ardmore in Co Waterford. The post received a number of comments about one particular photo of a gentleman on a motorbike. His name was Michael Mansfield and unfortunately he passed away in 2009 but that hasn’t stopped the occasional visitor from leaving a comment since then, the most recent being yesterday.

That comment prompted me to look up the photos I made that day in 2005 to find more photos of Michael Mansfield. Here are the three I found, including the one that appeared in the original post.

Reading the comments I wish I had stopped to talk to Michael. He seems to have been quite the character around Ardmore!

I posted a version of the panorama before but this one was made in Lightroom and I think is better. The following images are from 2007 during the construction of the Elysian.

The Burning of the Total Abstinence Association Hall

The Total Abstinence Association Hall on Station Road in Blarney was an unused shell of it’s former self by the time I moved to Blarney but others have fond memories of activities there.

In 2005 I saw smoke billowing up from Station Road and found Cork Fire Brigade hosing down the remains of a fire that had gutted the building earlier.
