    We saw The Service play in An Bróg last night and they were as good as they’ve always been.

    Best moment was, ‘For anyone under, uh, 50, THIS IS SKA!’

    I’ll admit I didn’t know Madness were a ska band. My wife introduced me to the wider world of that genre of music!

  • Traffic and housing

    Car traffic and a white van crossed a bridge in front of me, going through a junction with traffic lights, while the "What is Home?" mural on South Main Street is visible in the background.

    The centre of Cork City will become a traffic free zone this Saturday for a few hours. The area visible in the photo above will still have cars in it, but it’ll be interesting to see what effect this will have on the day.

    Visible in the background, of course, is “What is home?” by Dublin-based artist Asbestos.

    This photo makes me feel uneasy.

  • Justice

    So many homeless in the city, and this huge area is still a heap of rubble in the middle of the city. Not that whatever gets built there will help the homeless. It was supposed to be the site of a glass covered hotel AFAIR.

  • A Street Performance for the kids

    A street performer at the recent North Main Street festival in late August has the attention of young and old. He's standing in front of "Scotts For Tools", a DIY shop.

    At the end of August, North Main Street closed to traffic as a carnival was held there. A huge crowd of adults and children descended on the street and the place was buzzing. 🙂

    I wonder if this could be the same man I photographed on a unicycle in 2006?
