• Missing the Sights

A person with their head down looking at a phone. They're wrapped up warmly against the (IMO) mild October weather in Lisbon. Another man next to them looks off in another direction. They're standing on a pavement made of tiny square tiles in a decorative pattern.

Mobile phones are handy, but you miss the world if you’re looking at them. My wife will laugh when she sees me say this.

  • Let it snow in Arizona

Many years ago, on a cold January day in Arizona we came across a small yard where metal works were being sold. One of those was an unusual metal robot with a red and white hat on it’s head, saying “LET IT SNOW”.

It didn’t snow, but it was cold at night!

  • Hussey’s Folly and the green fields

On a lovely evening in August 2020, we were visiting Dingle in Co. Kerry. A walk out to Hussey’s Folly is always on the cards, I think this evening was the last time we saw Fungie too. He was swimming in the bay, just off shore, surrounded by boats, as he always was.

  • The Dragon Awakens

The Dragon of Shandon ready to go on the parade, with a woman holding an umbrella looking at it. A single solitary street light provides illumination, apart from the soft light from nearby windows.

The Dragon of Shandon was all ready to travel through Cork City. It was waiting just down the street from Shandon Bells. Raaaarrrrr!

  • Shandon Bells and Houses

The spire of St. Anne's Church (Shandon Bells) rises above the surrounding houses and street next to it at sunset with cloudy skies overhead.

Shandon Bells, seen from a slightly different perspective than the one at Bell’s Field we’re used to. It’s surrounded by houses and roads, and even by the nearby brewery, of which you can see a small portion of in this photo.

A cyclist reads a sign next to a road. The sign is blurred due to a narrow depth of field, but is about the Marina Promenade Improvement Works.
