• Llafranc at Night

The Spanish coast of the Mediterranean is a sea of artificial light, making astrophotography pretty difficult to do, but it does make for interesting panoramas.

The original merged image is over 9,000 pixels wide and full screen, it’s great to zoom in and scroll around.

  • Another lap at the races

A young rider on a brown horse races past the finish line after doing a lap of the track on grass. People watching from behind the barrier and umbrellas offering shade to bookies behind.

A rider and horse at the Dingle Races completes one lap of the track in August 2022.

  • Transparent Legs

On a busy street in Valencia, I took photos of the passing traffic under a cloudy sky lit by the setting sun. Another tourist decided they wanted to photograph the same scene and somehow failed to see me crouched near my camera. It wasn’t until his companion shouted at him to move that he obliged and moved!

  • Pigeons take flight

I heard him say, “sorry”, when his dog barked and scared all the pigeons, but he did me a favour. The pigeons in Bishop Lucey Park weren’t doing much!

  • Met him eating mushrooms

Two men lean against a wall while one checks his phone and the other looks on. A poster on railings behind them is partially seen and says "Cork Cycli.. Fes..." Street furniture is painted with the text "MET HIM EATING MUSH ROOMS IN THE PEOPLE'S PARK" and the other has a figure pointing at their own head with a mic on a stand.

Bishop Lucey Park in Cork is now a building site, but on this July day in 2023 it was just a quiet day in the city, with some cyclists, obviously.

  • Please, I can’t breathe

A mural on a wall in Santa Barbara shows George Floyd, and his words, “PLEASE, I CAN’T BREATHE”.

The mural was painted by Griffin Lounsbury and Chad (Chadillac Green) Westmoreland. Here’s an article about the mural by a local newspaper.

  • Damrak by Night

Houses by the water's edge are lit up and reflect in the still water. It's a night shot.

The Damrak in Amsterdam is a street in front of the main railway station of the city, where you can see the beautiful reflection pictured here.

If you’re lucky, the water will be as still as it was the night I photographed it. The reflections of the houses there are eye catching!

Sometimes when out with your dog, they’re second in line for your attention after your phone.

  • Cruising in my car

A man in sunglasses looks out from his car window as he passes us. The photo is framed by the window of the car I'm in.
A man looks out of his car window as it drives past. The car is black, with chrome edges.

I had no idea what make this car was when it drove past, but Google Images says it’s probably a Cadillac of some sort from the 1960s. It looked beautiful, whatever it was, and the guy driving knew it too.

  • Bored of Ducks

A bored looking man behind a counter in a shop full of rubber ducks, including a huge one to the right of the photo.

As they say, “When you’re bored of ducks, you’re bored of life.” I hope he had an exciting evening when he finished work!
