  • Arco de la Victoria and lightstreaks

    A large triumphal arch illuminated at night. The structure features classical architectural elements, with a prominent archway and decorative sculptures on top, including a chariot with horses. The lighting highlights the details of the arch, and there are light trails from passing vehicles on the road in front of it. Trees are visible on the sides, framing the monument.

    Many, many years ago, I photographed the Arco de la Victoria (Victory Arch) in Madrid. I was quite happy to have the lights of passing traffic in the photo too!

  • A Chimney in silhouette

    Many years ago, I photographed the sunset over the North Side of Cork City, using the silhouette of a roof and chimney as a foreground.

    This is so long ago that I used a 2MP Fuji, my second digital camera.

  • Floating Beauty

  • A mirror of a mural

    What caught my eye when I saw this in front of me in Bishop Lucey Park, was the man leaning against the railing seemed to mirror the pose of the figure in the large mural on the wall.

    The park itself is closed off now. This is a picture of a bygone era. Can’t wait to see the new layout of the park!

  • A Silhouette of a Sunset

    The sun had just set beyond Dunmore Head, next to Coumeenoole Beach. I had arrived late, but in time to make a silhouette of the hill and catch clouds just peeping over the hill.

  • The Rock Orchestra in Cork Opera House

    We went to see The Rock Orchestra play in the Cork Opera House last night, and they were a blast! Hopefully, these photos will help capture some of the excitement of the night. It’s well worth going to see them!

  • HNLMS Dolfijn Visits Cork

    In 2003, the Dutch submarine, Dolfijn, or Dulfun, visited Cork for a few days. I happened to be around town and spotted it from Kennedy Quay where I’d been photographing the ships, buildings and machinery.

    When it left Cork, it headed to Mallorca. September in Cork is nice, but I wouldn’t mind a few days there in October!

  • Winthrop Street Dug Up

    A construction site in a city, with the middle of a paved road dug up.

    In early 2005, Winthrop Street was dug up and repaved. I really don’t like the modern surface. Part of it feels slippery, and the middle section is uncomfortable to walk on. Anyone else?
