• Construction cranes at night

Cranes over the construction site at the old Guy and Company site make for a striking image at night.

This was taken from the Tesco multi-storey car park, a few metres away from where I shot Clouds move at night.

Yesterday we had to bring the car for a service so I took the opportunity to travel to visit the framer in Kilbrittain and sign the border of the prints Haydn has made. The prints look great, they’re raised up from the background border and will eventually be framed in a deep frame. I hope to post photos of my visit in the next few days if I get the time to work on the photos.

  • Gone shopping at Adams Kids

Mom and daughter hurry past on Panna after shopping in Adams Kids.

In the background is the old Dunnes Stores which has been pulled down leaving the front facing of the building and a wide swath of destruction and deconstruction behind it extending to Emmet Place.

PS. Thanks to Gamma for mentioning the exhibition in Mallow too. All links and publicity are greatly appreciated!

  • Cork flies the rebel flag

Red and white flags flew all over Cork City today and for the past week in anticipation of the All Ireland Football Final between Cork and Kerry.

Unfortunately Kerry won and decisively so too as I heard from my father-in-law Frank who filled me in on all the gory details!

  • San Francisco Streets

A cyclist races across across an almost empty junction in San Francisco.

I just love the sign on top of the building. Totally out of place amid the beautiful architecture and detail of it’s resting place.

  • Crossing the Finish Line

Three girls run past the “Finish” line after the Blarney half marathon on Sunday.

It was a funny place to put that sign as it was well behind the actual finish line. Guess they didn’t have any poles to stick it up on ..

  • Running in the Blarney Half Marathon

Running in the scorching heat on Waterloo Road near the end of the Blarney half marathon.

    Directing traffic on Waterloo Road.

Finishing the race in that searing heat is quite an accomplishment. Everyone received a medal at the finish.

Well done to everyone who took part!

  • Were you spammed by Stewart Photo Supplies too?

They guys and gals at Stewart Photo Supplies really want me and lots of other photography related people to know about their photography trade show in Cork on the 17th from 11am to 7pm. Unfortunately they completely ruined their chances of a favourable mention from because of the following.

CCing the info @ mallowcameraclub.com email address along with dozens of other people and organisations. Hello everybody!

    photographictradeshow1.png

BIG BRIGHT COLOURED TEXT WAS NEVER IN FASHION AND DOES NOT LOOK PROFESSIONAL.

Anyway, there’s a photographic trade show on in Cork on the 17th of September in Moran Silver Springs Hotel. I only mention this because there are some interesting companies exhibiting there including Sony, Epson, Canon and JSP Imaging (who they linked to incorrectly, that’s their old site which a domainer now has control of).

Send a text email the next time and don’t CC everyone, please.

  • People of the Blarney Half Marathon

This couple posed for me as they walked along the Waterloo Road. I’d venture to say he probably ran the half marathon in less than 90 minutes.

We chatted for a few minutes near the finish line while runners streamed past. He finished in 1hr 26mins. Next time I’m bringing a notepad and a pen to get names!

Two lads well on the way to recovery after the half marathon in Blarney. Under the scorching sun I don’t know how they managed to run it in 1hr 35mins!

The annual Blarney Half Marathon was held yesterday under a blistering sun. Ireland enjoyed a week of superb weather and yesterday could have been the hottest. The race started at 11am and runners followed a course around Blarney, finishing on Waterloo Road sometime after noon. I have nothing but admiration for those guys. All I wanted to do was sit in the shade an enjoy a cool drink! More photos to come tomorrow.
