8375

Kilkenny City
St. Pancras, London
Brandon Creek, Kerry
Somewhere in Kerry
Bunratty Castle I needed to look up a photo to find out where it was taken but when I typed 8375, the number of the image, into Lightroom’s search field I noticed how many similar portrait shots showed up. Images from Kerry to Clare to Kilkenny to London, and taken from 2004 to 2013.

I may have dust on my camera sensor

One of the downsides of being able to change lens is the ever present danger of dust getting into the camera and coating the sensitive sensor. Every time the lens is taken off there’s a chance that dust will swirl into the cavity of the camera, attracted by the charged sensor on the back wall behind the mirror.
I took this photo sometime last year but never noticed the dust until later. I had a blower and soft brush with me so it was easy to clean the sensor.
Luckily removing the dust spots is fairly easy in Lightroom or any photo development application but this was easily the most dust I ever saw and was a rain pain to go over the whole image. (made easier by page up/down and the “visualise spots” setting, but still..)

Eleven Years Apart

The photos above were shot eleven years apart. The first was shot in 2004 while the second was shot only a few weeks ago in early February, 2015. You may recognise the man. He sells newspapers in the St. Augustine’s Church, on the corner of Washington Street and Grand Parade. I presented him with a print of both photos and I think he was quite taken with them. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name while I talked with him as a customer came along but I’ll ask him next time!

Light Trails Through The Grand Parade

The Grand Parade last night while I was out with Blarney Photography Club in Cork.
The shot is a 25 second exposure. For 20 seconds I exposed normally with the lens at it’s widest, but for the last 5 seconds I slowly zoomed from 17mm to 40mm to get the light trail effect.
