Michael O’Regan and a Customer

Michael O’Regan is a well known sight on St. Patrick Street, Cork, selling the Evening Echo for over forty years from a couple of spots on the street.
Ten years ago I took a photo of him and promised I’d make a print for him. It took some time but last weekend I handed him a large print of that same photo. He was delighted, and posed for another photo along with a customer who had just bought a paper off him!

2015 St. Patrick’s Day in Blarney

A few photos from the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Blarney today. It was a fabulous day for the parade. The sun was shining and it was warm. The parade went off with barely a hitch (one of the classic cars needed a push at one point) and it was great fun to watch. My favourite would have to be the toilet one by Blarney Drain Services! I was going to say it was a float but saying “toilet float” makes me feel ill.

Eleven Years Apart

Eleven Years Apart

The photos above were shot eleven years apart. The first was shot in 2004 while the second was shot only a few weeks ago in early February, 2015. You may recognise the man. He sells newspapers in the St. Augustine’s Church, on the corner of Washington Street and Grand Parade. I presented him with a print of both photos and I think he was quite taken with them. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name while I talked with him as a customer came along but I’ll ask him next time!
